The world of Animal Crossing is filled with adorable critters, and the forthcoming entry in the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, will feature many of them. Included among the confirmed characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are the legendary Tom Nook and his rumored sons/nephews, Timmy and Tommy, and fans are now expressing a great deal of excitement about one particularly cute aspect of this raccoon family: their feet.

Over on the official Animal Crossing subreddit, a post pointing out that the Nooks have "toe beans" is currently receiving quite a lot of attention, earning more than 4,000 upvotes in less than one day. For the uninitiated, the term toe beans refers to the padded part of a cat's paws, and the image below shows exactly how this lovable feature has been bestowed upon the Nook family in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

"I want to bite them off and snuggle them," one particularly enamored Redditor writes of the Nooks's toe beans, while another fan simply states that they are "so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!" This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the excitement that these raccoon feet are currently generating, though, and the Reddit thread is filled with admiration for the tootsies of Tom Nook and his adorable family.

That said, gushing about toe beans is not all that is to be found in the thread, as some fans have taken the opportunity to ponder how this feature will impact the paw prints left by the raccoons. While it seems likely that these prints will take the shape of the Nooks' toe beans, it is difficult to get definitive confirmation of that from the various Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailers and images that are currently available.

When the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons was delayed back in June 2019, Nintendo indicated that it was done in order to avoid employee crunch, and this emphasis on maintaining a healthy work-life balance for developers is something that many fans fully support. Furthermore, if the additional time spent on the development of New Horizons means that there will be even more adorable details like the Nooks' toe beans, then players will likely consider the wait to have been worthwhile.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases on March 20, 2020, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
