Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been met by fans and critics alike with positivity, but not everything is wonderful in the island life. Although Easter doesn't land until April 12th this year, fans are already starting to tire of the in-game Bunny Day event that runs until the same date.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, like prior entries to the series, introduces certain holidays and events correlating with real-life events and seasons. For Easter, players are re-introduced to Zipper, a bunny mascot who has appeared in other Animal Crossing games, and Bunny Day, the game's equivalent of Easter.

While the event started out as enjoyable for many, the way the event takes over everything has some fans upset. Bunny eggs are hidden everywhere and can be turned in to unlock Bunny Day-themed recipes and loot from Zipper, but that's also the core of the problem. New Horizons heavily emphasizes relying on the environment around the player to craft, but some of the necessary ingredients have been partially replaced by bunny eggs instead. This makes it harder to craft necessary tools to thrive in the game.

If that weren't enough, the eggs can also take the place of caught fish, dug up treasure, floating balloons, and fruit. This can get in the way of players attempting to complete their critterpedia or fill out the museum, among other complaints. Fans have been so upset that they took to Reddit to commiserate about the event.

Sadly, without using a time travel exploit, there's nothing fans of the game can do but to wait out the event. Game developers have stumbled into difficulties with having events outlast their welcome before, as Borderlands 3 was criticized for its Halloween event running as long as it did. However, the problem is particularly problematic for Animal Crossing as certain fish and bugs are only available until the end of the month.

Unfortunately, players can't even escape the influence of Bunny Day when visiting a mystery island. Considering players have to spend Nook Miles to get there, many probably feel disappointed to find that eggs have overtaken those islands too.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
