As players begin Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they will find that there is indeed quite a lot to do in the first in-game days on their island. However, some fans may still reach a point where they will need to wait a real-world day before they can continue making progress on certain aspects of the game. Fortunately for players that do not wish to wait, there is a workaround, and it comes in the form of time traveling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Like previous entries in the Animal Crossing seriesNew Horizons unfolds in real-time, with the date and time in-game synced with what is indicated by the Switch's calendar and clock. Understanding this is the key to time traveling in ACNH, as it means that players can adjust their console's settings to move forward hours, or even days, into their island's future.

To do this, a player must simply select "System Settings" on their Nintendo Switch, and then select "System" from there. Now, the player should select "Date and Time," and then turn "Synchronize Clock via Internet" to "Off." Doing so will allow the player to change their Switch's date and time to whatever they desire, and this will alter the date and time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons accordingly.

While many players will use time travelling just to curtail the wait associated with various endeavors in this new Animal Crossing, it can be employed for even further benefits. More specifically, time travelling can be used to earn a ton of Bells in Animal Crossing: New Horizons very easily. This is done by depositing Bells into the Automatic Bell Dispenser, and then advancing the game a great number of years to collect significant interest on that deposit.

Time travelling is not without its consequences, though, as it can result in missed Nook Miles or even lead to a situation where a favorite Animal Crossing: New Horizons villager leaves the island. However, players that use time traveling carefully should not encounter many problems, and indeed utilizing this technique is the best approach for moving through New Horizons more quickly than officially intended.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
