Animal Crossing: New Horizons latest update has brought a whole series of new content to the game. With this influx of new items and experiences, players have been experimenting with new tricks and styles. In the latest display of this creativity, one Animal Crossing: New Horizons player reinvented the system kitchen.

Released in March of 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has seen critical and sales success. As a social simulation game, players are able to purchase, decorate, and upgrade their own house as well as decorate their own island. The game offers players a long list of items that they can purchase but only opens up a certain amount of items at a time through the Nook's Cranny and Nook Stop terminal.

This post by Reddit user memulias shows off the traditional system kitchen item but with a new twist. As they mention in their post's title, stylish wall spotlights can be placed behind the upper portion of a system kitchen to create a new effect. The resulting creation shows off the two lights hidden but shining down on the kitchen sink and cooking top. These add some extra lighting to memulias’s kitchen that the normal system kitchen just doesn’t feature. It isn't a crazy amount of light but it adds a new look to the item and a new feeling in the room. Memulias points out that, apparently, the design for the system kitchen allows for items such as hanging lights to rest underneath the top section but it isn't clear if this was revealed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons' latest update.

Interested players looking to copy this effect can use almost any light that hangs from the walls. Unfortunately, hanging lighting items as well as the system kitchen itself appear at random at Nook’s Cranny and at the Nook Stop Terminal. And, with the system kitchen being one of the more expensive items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it may take some time to recreate this look. Once all the items are purchased, however, this trick is easy to replicate.

This find by memulias adds just a little bit of effect but works really well. For those players looking to get some additional lighting in their kitchen without having to fill their walls with items, this small trick is helpful. It also does very well to alter the look of both the system kitchen and room in general.

Then again, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’s system kitchen is quite expensive and it shouldn't need additional lighting. It is an item that has been a hot commodity in the Animal Crossing community but comes up just short for some players for this very reason. Either way, memulias does a great job of showing off a helpful trick with the system kitchen.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch.
