During the Nintendo Direct stream, a collaboration between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario was announced for the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. The crossover is set to arrive just a little earlier than Animal Crossing's one-year anniversary, and will include different costumes and items inspired by the classic Mario games.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become one of the most successful games Nintendo offers, with over 30 million copies sold during its first year. Thanks to the game's success, Animal Crossing has collaborated with other big brands, including the makeup giant ColourPop, with which it launched palettes and other makeup items inspired by some of the characters of the game.

This time, Animal Crossing's collaboration with one of the most famous game series in history will include costumes for Mario, Luigi, and Peach. Additionally, during the Nintendo Direct stream, fans got to see a sneak peek at other Mario Bros items, like the iconic green pipe, which has been one of the Mario Bros. games' most iconic staples.

The stream also showed Mario Bros-themed furniture, including the well-known coins, a Thwomp that drops just as it does in the original Mario games, mushrooms, flags, and even breakable blocks. There was also a preview of what the in-game cost of such items will be, seemingly ranging from 700 bells for a shell to 12,000 bells for Peach's crown.

Animal Crossing's collaboration with Super Mario will drop on February 25. This event will happen right after the Mardi Gras event, which launched on February 15, titled Festivale. Given Animal Crossing: New Horizon's success, it is likely that there will be more interesting events in the coming months.

Hopefully, the next Animal Crossing events will also feature exciting collaborations filled with unique items to keep the game fresh. The Super Mario collaboration is will likely be a success among fans, and it would not be a surprise if the costumes and furniture were to garner the interest of collectors, just like items from previous in-game events have.

In addition to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons collaboration, Super Mario will continue to drop updates for its 35th-anniversary celebrations. So far, there have been some limited-time game releases, including Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and a set of collectible pins that fans have been trying to get their hands on, though some fans have been out of luck for the pins.
