At the beginning of the month, Animal Crossing: New Horizons added its first Summer Update, which brought some significant new content to the game, like the new NPC Pascal, sea creatures, and swimming. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update Wave 2 wasn't expected until August, but Nintendo has surprised fans by announcing that the update will actually be available in just a couple of days, on July 30.

Upon downloading Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update Wave 2, fans will be able to watch fireworks shows every Sunday in August, and celebrate the occasion with a bunch of new items, which they can get from Redd's Raffle, set up in the plaza. It seems Redd will be doing more than just selling bootleg pieces of art once Summer Update Wave 2 hits. Players will also be able to create their own fireworks designs for the shows.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will also get to meet a new NPC as part of Summer Update Wave 2. Luna is a new character who will appear when Animal Crossing: New Horizons players sleep and dream. Players will be able to dream to access "dream islands" from around the world, which essentially lets players visit a copy of other players' islands. They can also upload their own islands to the cloud for other players to visit in their dreams as well.

Presumably, this will be tied in to the Animal Crossing island save backup feature, which will finally be available as part of the July 30 update as well. Letting fans back up their Animal Crossing: New Horizons island save data to the cloud will undoubtedly be a huge relief to anyone worried that their Switch console could get lost or broken, as Animal Crossing saves are tied to the console, not the cartridge.

Looking ahead, Nintendo also briefly teased when fans can expect the next big Animal Crossing: New Horizons update after Summer Update Wave 2. As expected, Nintendo is planning on releasing a Halloween update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons at some point in the fall, but stopped short of providing specifics or any other information as to what can be expected.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
