As Sunday comes closer and Animal Crossing: New Horizons players begin scrambling to get rid of their turnips for a profit, they should consider hanging onto them until Monday, August 17th to help a good cause.

The Stalk Market program in Animal Crossing: New Horizons mimics the stock market in real life. Headed by the adorable NPC Daisy, she shows up at players' islands each Sunday bringing loads of turnips with her to sell. Players can buy as many as they'd like, typically between the prices of 90-110 bells, and the goal is to turn a profit on them before the following Sunday rolls around. If players are unsuccessful, the turnips will spoil and they will only sell for a small fraction of the price.

While it's normally a player's goal to sell turnips at a higher price than bought for before Sunday arrives again, this weekend, New Horizons players should consider holding onto them and letting them go rotten. It might sound a bit strange, but the Canadian branch of Hellmann's—the mayonnaise company—is taking any spoiled turnips players have and will use them to donate to a good cause. For each spoiled turnip donated, Hellmann's will donate a meal to Second Harvest, Canada's largest food rescue charity, until the 25,000 meals goal is reached.

On Monday, August 17th, the Canadian branch of the mayonnaise company will open its island to visitors from 3:00 PM EST to 12:15 AM EST on Saturday, August 22nd. This will give players nearly a full week-window to donate to the meals charity. To get access to the island, players will need to send a direct message to Hellmann's Canada on Twitter (@HellmannsCanada) to receive a personal Dodo code, given out on a first-come, first-served basis, and they'll have a 15-minute window to drop of their spoiled turnips.

Once players are done donating their rotten goods, they'll have a chance to experience the attractions of Hellmann's island, including a farm, the Second Harvest Outdoor Kitchen, both the Nook and Able Sisters' shops, and Ribbon Island, where guests can pole vault over to a picturesque island shaped like a ribbon, decorated in blue and white rose beds.

Thanks to the internet, players have been able to put together fan-made websites and dedicated Discord servers for tasks like exchanging turnips to other Animal Crossing players, trading items, and even selling moving villagers. Because of this, fans have easily earned millions by selling hundreds—if not thousands—of turnips each week. Imagine how quickly the 25,000 meal goal can be met if these players let their turnips spoil come Monday.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for Nintendo Switch.
