An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has recreated one of Se7en's most iconic - and horrifying - scenes. With its slew of creation options, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has long been a place for gamers to re-envision their favorite pop culture moments, and this one comes just in time for Halloween.

Getting in the spooky spirit, the fan is posting a famous horror recreation every day until Halloween, all of which have been made within Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Beginning September 24 with a vignette from Shaun of the Dead, they've thus far posted everything from The Exorcist to Jaws to Carrie.

Now on day 10 of the countdown, Reddit user TonyClifton323 has chosen to share an exceptionally dark moment from 1995's psychological mystery-thriller Se7en. The scene in question involves the final confrontation with the film's villain, John Doe, played by Kevin Spacey, after a grueling pursuit through a trail of murders based around the seven deadly sins. The protagonist, Mills, played by Brad Pitt, screams at Doe demanding to know "what's in the box?!" the contents of which are heavily implied to be his wife's head.

All the recreations in the Halloween countdown were built in the interior of a villager home, even if the original movie scene was an exterior shot. This allowed the designer to make some really inventive use of wallpaper and flooring to help sell it. With the addition of some cleverly placed furniture, the scenes all come together really nicely, to the point where many are recognizable before the titles are even read. The film version of Se7en, for instance, plays out in a bleak, dry landscape, while the Animal Crossing: New Horizons version uses wavy sand flooring and wallpaper depicting an endless desert. A stand-in for Brad Pitt's character is captured in the middle of the shout emote as a box rests nearby.

The juxtaposition of such gruesome scenes created using such a cutesy game is of course, wildly jarring. But it's what makes these unique little pieces of art work. And be it grotesque Halloween tableaus or putting the Flintstone's car into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the ability for players to express creativity and pay homage to their favorite piece of culture is part of what makes the game special.

And though Se7en is an iconic mystery-thriller and not a horror movie, the intended subject of the countdown, it's fair to say it can get a pass. It certainly contains some truly horrifying moments. And now one of those horrific moments is available for all to see in one of the cutest games there is. Perfect for Halloween.
