Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers fans of the series more customization options than ever before, but from time to time, players still find themselves wanting to build something that isn't included in the game. Oftentimes, these players choose to piece together a replacement, either by making custom furniture creations or by using existing items in creative ways. One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player recently used existing in-game items to create ice fishing shacks for their island.

This isn't the first time an Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has placed items in creative ways to make them appear to be something else, but it may be one of the most effective. It also features one of the largest customizable housewares items added to the game in the 2.0 free update.

Redditor ButIDigress79 shared a screenshot of their island, which features three large ice fishing shacks in different colors. Each of the ice fishing shacks was made by taking two Retro Transportation Stop items and placing them next to each other and adding a window so that they look like a whole building. The result may not be the grandest building created in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but they certainly look believable. ButIDigress79 also added two square holes in the surrounding ice, a car, and a fishing pole to evoke the feel of an area dedicated to ice fishing.

It may seem odd that the fishing pole is outside the ice fishing shacks, but in real life, ice fishing can take place either in a heated enclosure or out in the open. The only mandatory element appears to be the hole in the ice and the fishing gear, both of which are featured prominently in the screenshot. Also shown are what appear to be two Round Space Heater items, three lawn chairs, and a bucket for caught fish to be placed in.

As of writing, it appears that other fans are interested in creating their own ice fishing set-ups this winter. Several users responded to the post by sharing their intent to go ice fishing – or by stating that the screenshot reminded them of home. According to ButIDigress79, the ice path they used can be found using this code: MA- 3173-1710-8520. ButIDigress79 stated that they'd forgotten the code for the window they added to the Retro Transportation Stops to make them look more like buildings, but it could be found by going to Able Sisters and searching "window" in the portal.
