The massive 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is in full swing, and players have been busy exploring all the new items and features the game has to offer. There is no shortage of new content, but one of the most exciting additions is the co-op shop on Harv's Island. Previously, Harv's Island only served as a photo booth location, but now it has a much bigger purpose.

By investing Bells, players can fund several shops on Harv's Island. Many of the shops are NPCs that are new to New Horizons (or have expanded roles), but several of them are older vendors that players are used to seeing on their island. Instead of having to wait for a particular vendor, players can now find them consistently on Harv's Island. However, while there are a lot of new characters to meet, there are a lot of benefits to unlocking the New Horizons veterans first.

The New NPCs on Harv's Island Aren't Really Vendors

The new NPCs players can interact with are Katrina, Reese and Cyrus, Tortimer, and Harriet. That's almost half of the NPCs that appear on Harv's Island, but none of them are necessarily vendors. Harriet doesn't require Bells to unlock, and she just teaches the player a few new hairstyles in her outdoor salon. Katrina gives fortunes for a fee, Tortimer can help the player access their storage, and Reese and Cyrus can customize items that the player can't customize on their own.

It can be pretty tempting to go after everything new right away, but that actually might not be the most efficient way to go about things. Katrina's fortunes don't have any game-changing effects, Tortimer only offers storage solutions, and Reese and Cyrus can customize furniture any time. They don't really give the player anything new, but some of the vendors that players are already familiar with have a lot of new things to offer.

Harv's Island Shops Rotate Weekly

The shops on Harv's Island switch their inventory out every Monday. Vendors like Redd, Leif, Kicks, and Sahara won't be changing their inventory every day. The sooner these vendors can be brought to Harv's Island, the sooner players can start to take advantage of the schedule and search for new items. Other NPCs like Tortimer and Katrina don't rotate any inventory, so bringing them to the island is not as time-sensitive.

It cost 100,000 Bells to bring a new vendor to Harv's Island, so players need to choose which ones to prioritize if they don't have an enormous supply on hand. Saving up 100,000 Bells is no small task. While saving up for the new NPCs might seem more exciting, players will get new items a lot faster by unlocking the older vendors first.

Which Vendors to Unlock First on Harv's Island

Out of all the vendors, Leif is probably the most important one to unlock first. Leif carries starts for crops, which players will need if they plan on taking advantage of the 2.0 update's new cooking feature. Leif only carries one crop at a time, so players interested in creating a farm will want to start cycling through Leif's inventory as soon as possible.

After Leif, Redd is a valuable vendor that players should unlock early. Redd has always been incredibly elusive in New Horizons, showing up on the secret beach about once a week. He sells artwork to fill the art section of the museum, but players can only purchase one piece per visit and there's no guarantee he'll have anything good. Other sections of the museum can be farmed pretty easily, but a lot of players might still have pretty empty art exhibits. On Harv's Island, players can start seriously stockpiling artwork.

After that, players can prioritize Kicks and Saharah however they'd like. Saharah will have a stock of rugs, wallpapers, and floors while Kicks will have his usual bags, shoes, and socks. One of the most underrated quality-of-life updates in New Horizons is the ability to actually see what Saharah is selling, that way players don't spend their hard-earned bells on duplicates or items they'll never use. Kicks also has some great new items, including an adorable bear backpack players are desperate to get their hands on.
