The latest Animal Crossing: New Horizons update has encouraged fans to come back in droves to collect the various new items the game has. Although it’s the last major update Animal Crossing: New Horizons will see, it has helped the game’s longevity tremendously, offering dozens upon dozens of hours of new content for players to enjoy. That being said, the new update also seems to have caused many players to worry, as they have noticed that items they have placed on their Island have disappeared.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a plethora of different design choices for players when it comes to terraforming and editing their island. Some players want the game to go further, however which led to the discovery of certain glitches such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons's 4th level glitch. Unfortunately, it seems like this trick is doing more harm than good following the 2.0 update.

Nintendo has previously tried patching the glitch, but a workaround allowed players to continue using it to their advantage. With the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update, however, it appears as though any players that had items on those fourth levels are losing them. On Reddit, a user by the name of JiubSt has shared a before and after picture of their island, where it can be seen that the statues they had placed using the 4th level glitch were removed after the 2.0 update. Other users in the comments have shared how their items disappeared from their 4th level as well.

Thankfully, there isn’t any real need for concern as one user has pointed out that the items that are removed from the 4th level can easily be recovered from the recycle box. The recycle bin is found in the Residential Services building, and should be revisited every so often anyway since it typically has new items every now and then for players to take.

Players in the Reddit post were quite relieved when they realized their items weren’t gone forever. Still, it goes to show that committing to Animal Crossing: New Horizons glitches can often result in some issue later down the line when a patch comes around. Although the items were placed in the recycle box, it’s possible that they won’t be in the future if an update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons occurs again.

The 4th level glitch was quite popular and was something that many fans tried in order to expand their options when decorating their island. Now, with the new 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons offering tons of new content, it’s possible fewer people will be encouraged to make use of this glitch - especially if there is a chance it can come back to bite them later down the line.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
