With Halloween in the rearview mirror, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans have been looking forward to the big winter update. Nintendo has finally released a new trailer for the Animal Crossing: New Horizons winter update, and fans don't have to wait long at all for the update to go live in their games.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons winter update will be available for Nintendo Switch owners beginning November 19, and it will prepare the game for the big upcoming holiday events. The festivities will kick off with Turkey Day on November 26, which introduces the new turkey NPC Franklin to players' Animal Crossing villages. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players need to gather ingredients for Franklin to help him prepare a Thanksgiving feast, like pumpkins, for instance.

Then on December 24, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can look forward to Toy Day. Toy Day will see the debut of Jingle the reindeer, who tasks Animal Crossing players with delivering presents to their villagers. It looks like there will be plenty of Christmas-themed decorations and furniture items added as well, so players can make sure their islands look appropriate for the occasion.

While the big holiday events are likely what Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans are most interested in when it comes to the winter update, there's some other things to look forward to. After downloading the Animal Crossing: New Horizons winter update on November 19, fans can use their extra Nook Miles to purchase new hairstyles as well as a new hip reaction collection, giving them access to a new batch of emotes.

Animal Crossing: New Horizon's winter update will also make some major quality of life changes. For instance, players will get their storage expanded to 1600 items to 2400 by talking to Tom Nook. It's unclear if the storage expansion upgrade will be free, or if Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will have to fork over more bells to get it. The other big quality of life improvement will allow Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to transfer their save data, so if they get a new Switch or if the Switch Pro rumors are true, they can take their Animal Crossing village with them.

And finally, Nintendo also teased the next big update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which will be released at some point in late January, though details on exactly what it will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing.

In the meantime, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons winter update release date is November 19, so fans only have to wait a couple of days to get started.
