Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been an excellent platform for people who want to connect to their friends and hang out while under quarantine. Even celebrities like Elijah Wood are visiting players islands online during these tumultuous times when everyone is forced to stay indoors.
It seems anyone and everyone interested in some relaxing video game enjoyment has sought out New Horizons while the world feels like it’s falling apart. Now, the Japanese voice actors for My Hero Academia’s Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya are joining in by visiting one another’s islands online.
As everyone knows, much of the world is still under self-quarantine orders due to the lingering presence of Covid-19. While many of us could never have imagined that this pandemic would last well into May, the reality of the situation remains the same. As such, people have had to get used to interacting with friends and family via online communication tools and video calls. Some have even used video game’s to connect, like those players using New Horizons to celebrate Mother’s Day.
In fact, many players have been using New Horizons to keep in contact with their friends during this time. One of the beauties of New Horizons is that the game still simulates being outside with neighbors and friends in a peaceful and relaxing setting. Celebrities and online personalities have even jumped on board with New Horizons as a way to experience some relaxation during the pandemic. Recently, My Hero Academia voice actors Yuki Kaji and Daiki and Daiki Yamashita, who voice Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya respectively, documented their online reunion in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The two voice actors are currently in the midst of their own self-quarantine lifestyles. However, they wanted to show that it is still possible for people to enjoy one another’s company during the pandemic, via Animal Crossing. Kaji captured his screen’s footage when he visited Yamshita’s island, where he gave his coworker a full tour and even showed him a romantic candlelit barbeque dinner. The video is very funny and heartwarming to see the two actors able to goof around and add some levity to this very stressful situation.
With Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling at an unprecedented rate, it’s no wonder that so many people – whether they be traditional gamers or not – are using the game to visit loved ones during the pandemic. The game’s sales have been incredible all over the world, as it was recently announced that it was Japan’s best-selling Switch game ever. Hopefully, people will be able to visit friends and family in-person soon, but until then New Horizons does make for a lovely place to catch up and reconnect.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
