Nearly every Animal Crossing: New Horizons player likely knows that wasps can be a big hassle. The flying insects don't cause any kind of permanent damage to the player, but when taken by surprise, they can be a nuisance.

Generally, running away to the nearest building or immediately switching to a net is enough to avoid New Horizon's wasps. However, one unlucky player ended up facing an angry cloud of wasps thanks to a favorite villager.

Mitzi, the normal cat villager, has been a series staple from the start, and many players love having her on their islands. This includes BallKeeper, who shared a video with fellow Animal Crossing fans on the game's subreddit. In it, their villager is shaking trees near the town hall as Mitzi is beginning to walk by. The last tree shaken produces an angry swarm of wasps, but many players could have handled a random swarm's appearance. Unfortunately, Mitzi was in the right place at the wrong time.

After BallKeeper's character reacts to the wasps, they begin to swarm over the area that Mitzi is standing in. The player already has their net out, ready to capture the wasps, but when they tapped A to swing at the wasps, the game triggered a conversation with Mitzi, instead. After politely asking them to get the wasps away from her, she flees, and lets out a sigh of relief after watching the player get stung.

BallKeeper pointed out that it was rude of Mitzi to abandon them like that, and other players were quick to say the same. Of course, Animal Crossing: New Horizons NPCs aren't intended to actually interact with bugs or other creatures in the game; while they mimic the actions of fishing and bug-catching, they never actually get anything. Mitzi couldn't have been stung, nor could she do anything about helping the player. But her timing of standing right where the wasps ended up couldn't have been worse.

Thankfully, recovering from a wasp sting in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as simple as taking some medicine. If the player is lucky, a friendly villager might even give them some for free upon noticing that they're in bad shape. While Mitzi commented on the sting, she didn't offer the player anything, further adding insult to injury.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons still has a lot of life left in it, with players regularly creating interesting island designs. With any potential sequel being many years off in the future, maybe by the developers will add a function for villagers to help in circumstances like these. Many would likely enjoy seeing the addition, but until then, players can get a laugh out of videos like these.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Switch.
