Animal Crossing: New Horizons is by in large the most popular Switch release of 2020, and is currently one of the highest selling games of the year. Possessing countless innovations to the Animal Crossing series, New Horizons is full of countless endearing villagers and other characters that can inhabit one's island. Despite this, there are still a great deal of notable characters from previous installments in the series that have yet to make an appearance.

While the game has been receiving updates that have been adding characters such as Crazy Redd to the game, there are still characters who've yet to appear in the game. So today we're going to examine ten characters we'd love to see added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

11 Harriet

From Animal Crossing: Wild World to Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Harriet had served as the resident hairdresser in the series. In order for players to alter their appearance, they needed to visit Harriet's salon. However, with New Horizon's update to the means in which players can now simply change their appearance, Harriet is seemingly out of a job, and is currently not be found in the game. Perhaps she can be added to the game at some point down the road, supplying unique hairstyles that only she can provide.

10 Lyle And Lottie

In New Horizons, players can have their homes judged by the "Happy Home Academy," receiving plaques and trophies from the academy for decorating their homes in an appealing manner. Despite the presence of the "Happy Home Academy" itself, the game currently does not feature the two notable employees of the Academy, Lyle and Lottie.

We'd love to see these two characters appear in some kind of update, potentially providing additional home customization options for players.

9 Blanca

Blanca is a character who had appeared in every entry in the Animal Crossing series prior to New Horizons. A white cat with no face, Blanca had first appeared as a recurring visitor who could appear in player's towns, asking them to draw her a new face. More recently, Blanca had appeared as the host of the April Fools event in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Despite this, Blanca was absent from the game on April First.

Perhaps Blanca could be added to the game for an April Fools event for next year, or perhaps she could return to her roots as a walking canvas for players to draw upon.

8 Brewster

Brewster is a very unique Animal Crossing character, serving little to no practical service, rather serving a more aesthetic purpose. The owner of a coffee shop, players can order coffee that in previous entries in the series, provides no changes to game play whatsoever. In past entries, his coffee shop had been located within Blathers's museum and in New Leaf, it was its own standalone building.

Despite having no real impact on gameplay, Brewster and his coffee shop is a cozy addition that many players would love to see in New Horizons.

7 Tortimer

As the Animal Crossing series progressed, Tortimer's role became less and less relevant, until he was most recently absent all together. Originally the town mayor in the first few Animal Crossing games, Tortimer's job was changed when the player assumed role of mayor in New Leaf, opting to host multiplayer mini-games on an island.

While there is no official Mayor in New Horizons, we'd love to see Tortimer's mini games make a return as an additional activity for the many players utilizing the game's multiplayer.

6 Dr. Shrunk And Frillard

Much like Harriette, Dr. Shrunk and Frillard's roles from previous Animal Crossing games has been made largely obsolete by the mechanic changes of New Horizons. In previous entries, both of these characters served as comedians who had taught players how to emote using the game's reactions. However, as players now learn reactions from villagers in their town, these two don't seem to have much to do.

Though we're unsure what they'd do, we'd love to see Dr. Shrunk and Frillard appear in some capacity in New Horizons.

5 Katrina

A character like Blanca who'd appeared in every Animal Crossing game until New Horizons, Katrina is the series resident fortune teller. As one would expect from this title, Katrina is capable of reading players' fortunes as well as providing numerous charms with varied effects.

Katrina is the perfect example of a character who could be given a similar role to Redd, Kicks, or CJ, occasionally visiting a player's island to provide their service and keep things fresh.

4 Phineas

First appearing in Animal Crossing: City Folk, Phineas is a kindly old sea lion who would provide players with balloons and pinwheels. Starting in New Leaf, Phineas's role would change, instead rewarding players with badges for meeting various requirements, much like New Horizon's "Nook Miles" system.

As pinwheels and holdable balloons have yet to appear in New Horizons, we'd love to see Phineas return to his City Folk roots.

2 Copper And Booker

Characters who date back to the first entries of the Animal Crossing series, Copper and Booker were originally police officers who maintained the town's lost and found and could provide players with information regarding daily going ons in their town. While in Wild World and City Folk their roles changed to operating the town gate, they returned to being police officers in New Leaf.

Despite their presence in every entry until New Horizons, they've yet to be introduced. As the game is receiving regular updates, we wouldn't be surprised if they make some kind of appearance and are able to move into a player's town.

1 Kapp’n

As an incredibly iconic Animal Crossing character, something about New Horizons just doesn't feel right due to the absence of Kapp'n. Kapp'n has served numerous roles in the series, working as a cab driver, but more notably the owner of a boat that players could take to islands in numerous entries in the series.

While "Dodo Airlines" has effectively made Kapp'n's role defunct, the presence of a dock on each player's island gives us hope that there's a plan to introduce Kapp'n to New Horizonin the future!
