With each new month comes additional content in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nintendo implemented a Wedding Season event that re-introduces Cyrus and Reese from Animal Crossing: New Leaf looking to take anniversary photos using Harvey's island studio Photopia. With the series' focus on building strong relationships with widely diverse villagers, some players might be wondering whether a dedicated marriage system has been added in for users alongside the photography event.

Though Isabelle mentions June being a perfect time to get married in reference to the Wedding Season event, there is no dedicated mechanic in place for Animal Crossing fans to fall in love and wed one of their island's residents. Other games in the life simulation and farming genre like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley have romance mechanics, but Animal Crossing has not yet ventured into that territory.

However, Animal Crossing fans can find other benefits if they build relationships with their villagers beyond marriage options. Becoming Best Friends with New Horizons' villagers by talking every day, offering them gifts, and more can lead to special items like a picture of the villager that can be displayed as a furniture item. All villagers start with 25 friendship points, but can max out at 255 with enough dedication.

Though a marriage mechanic was not added to coincide with the New Horizons' Wedding Season event, other beneficial changes have been implemented into the game. For instance, players can now sell items and send things to their home's storage for free when visiting a mystery island, which should expedite the process of farming scorpions and tarantulas.

The Wedding Season event also offers players the opportunity to earn some new items for use in their homes and on their islands. By taking Cyrus and Reese's anniversary photos, they can unlock heart crystals in New Horizons, a limited-time collectible item that may be traded to Cyrus for wedding-themed items like wallpaper and benches.

Between the addition of new bugs and fish like the Arapaima as well as the Wedding Season event, June offers plenty of reasons for players to return to their islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons if they took part of May off. Those players may not be able to get married, but New Leaf veterans especially should find a lot to love on Harv's Island.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
