Ketchup is a peppy duck villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Having been around since the original Animal Crossing days and also simply adorable, Ketchup is a favorite in the community, and many players have spent hours looking for her or waiting for her to arrive on their New Horizons' campsite.
Ketchup was strangely absent from the series after appearing in Doubutsu no Mori e+, the Japanese-exclusive expanded version of the original Animal Crossing that released for the GameCube. She made her return only via Animal Crossing: New Leaf's Welcome amiibo update, making her a highly exclusive character until she appeared in the mobile spinoff Pocket Camp. Ketchup's design is inspired by a tomato, adding her to the list of food villagers like Merengue the Rhino and Tangy the tangerine cat. Her description in New Leaf says she "thinks she goes with everything," a joking reference for some people's love of the ketchup condiment.
Peppy villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are known to embody the "valley girl" stereotype, being constantly energetic and ditzy. Oftentimes, peppy villagers like Ketchup find themselves the center of gossip spread by cranky and snooty villagers. Peppy villagers get along with other types that share similar kindness mindsets, such as normal, big sister, lazy, and jock villagers. In New Horizons, Ketchup's hobby is playing, meaning she'll run around with her arms extended like she's an airplane from time to time.

If Ketchup performs the eating action in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, she'll eat a Donut, and she'll read a comic book if she reads. Her initial catchphrase before asking the player to change it is "bitty."
Many Animal Crossing: New Horizons tier lists place Ketchup higher up towards the A or S categories as she's often one of the most desired villagers among players. She's one of the most popular duck villagers alongside Molly. Other tier lists sometimes claim that she's an overrated villager.
