Nintendo's biggest announced exclusive in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, just unveiled its box art alongside a new trailer. The life simulation game launches on Nintendo Switch in March, so Nintendo is making the most of the months until then. Animal Crossing: New Horizons's box art offers a one-glance look at what players can expect. It works well with the new trailer, which introduces where Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will be building their new homes and lives.

Animal Crossing: New Horizon's box art shows just what's in store via Tom Nook's Deserted Island Getaway Package. An assortment of classic Animal Crossing gameplay is teased, including fishing, bug catching, and crafting, along with many customization options. It also shows a variety of Animal Crossing's animal villagers doing fun things like sunbathing, reading books, and just being social. It's also interesting that it shows the player's camping tent, which they'll have at the start of the game, rather than a built-up home.

The new Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer is just 30 seconds long, but it does a great job of establishing the premise of the game. Each Animal Crossing game begins with a different premise. Whether it's going camping, moving to a new place by train, or inheriting an old house, players are given a reason for why Animal Crossing starts the way it does. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players are invited to a deserted island via a Nook Inc. "Deserted Island Getaway Package."

The trailer also touches on some Animal Crossing staples that are certain to stand out to fans of the franchise. Just having Tom Nook and his nephews start out the trailer is certain to make many fans smile. The first look at the deserted island, with its apple and palm trees, is also a good reminder of Animal Crossing's fruit picking. Beyond that, there's also the crowd of familiar animal faces, including Isabelle of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fame.

Both the box art and the trailer don't make any large revelations for the upcoming game, but they do truly capture the essence of the franchise. This is what Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about. Players will go to a deserted island, pick fruit and cut down trees, and build their own home there. And hopefully, they'll also make plenty of friends with New Horizon's new co-op multiplayer along the way.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases March 20 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
