Coming this Monday the 18th is International Museum Day, a real-life event that is also coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons players as well. Players will have two weeks to complete the event's activities and grab all of the event exclusive items.

In order to take part in International Museum Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the museum must be built on players' islands. There is no other donation requirement and players are also not required to have the art exhibits unlocked and built.

Starting on May 18th and running until May 31st, players can talk to Blathers in the museum on their islands in order to begin the event's activities. Players will be tasked with completing a Stamp Rally, which is essentially a scavenger hunt where players collect ink stamps on cards.

When participating in the Stamp Rally, there will be 3 stamp stations in each exhibit hall except for the art exhibit. With the corresponding stamp card, players are to search the exhibit hall for each stamp station. Where all three are will be random for each player, but players can get a good idea of where they will be by looking at the location descriptions on their stamp cards.

Each location also provides some nice flavor text describing the area and can lead to players observing all of the pretty locations in their museums that they can visit at any time. Touring the museum this way can also help some less charitable players be more convinced to support their museum.

By completing a stamp card, players will get one of three prizes from Blathers. These prizes are:

  • Bug Plaque
  • Fish Plaque
  • Fossil Plaque

Observant players may notice that these prizes are in fact the plaques that can be seen by the entrances to each of the exhibit halls. They can be hung on any wall in players' homes as trophies or even markers for players' own private collections. Selling these event-exclusive items is not recommended, as while they are rare and can only be obtained through the International Museum Day Event, they also only sell for 300 bells each.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
