Holidays are some of the most exciting times of the year in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and 2021 will likely be no different, with events that players will want to get ready for.
Most fans of the Animal Crossing series are no stranger to the franchise's iconic in-game holidays. They offer players the opportunity to obtain exclusive items, meet special holiday NPCs, and just have fun with friends, whether they're animals or humans. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has already been through its first year of holidays, but fans are already preparing for the second round of events and activities. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is going to have some major holidays to look forward to in 2021.
Halloween
Animal Crossing: New Horizons' players should look forward to another day of tricks and treats later this year. Last year, the Czar of Halloween named Jack, had players collecting candy in exchange for Halloween DIYs and items. While this will likely be the case for this year as well, there's a good chance that Nook's Cranny will offer even more spooky decorations than what players could obtain last year, similar to the new and improved Bunny Day.
Turkey Day
Turkey Day is another big Animal Crossing: New Horizons holiday that players can look forward to in 2021. Last year, players were greeted by Franklin the turkey. Requesting assistance, players were tasked with gathering ingredients for the dishes Franklin planned to serve for the day's celebration. For each dish prepared, Franklin would give players a Turkey Day item DIY.
If Turkey Day were to undergo any changes this year, it would likely be Franklin's menu. New food being served up would mean that players need to search for new ingredients this year, potentially resulting in a new set of DIYs. While there's nothing confirming it, it would be a nice surprise if players could whip up their own Turkey Day feast this year after a potential update introduces cooking to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Toy Day
Of all of the major holidays to happen in Animal Crossing: New Horizons last year, many fans felt that Toy Day was one of the weaker events in the game. Last year, Toy Day introduced Jingle to the game and had players assist the reindeer by giving presents to their villagers. The rewards were a few winter holiday themed DIYs, but little else was given.
Hopefully, Toy Day receives a bit of an overhaul this year in the same way as Bunny Day. While Nook's Cranny did offer a variety of toys throughout December that players could gift their villagers on Toy Day, the gift was would receive back was just another toy. Hopefully this year, the number of toys far exceeds what was available last year, making the presents feel a little more valuable.
Wedding Season
Wedding Season was a month long event last year in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and a first-time celebration for the Animal Crossing series. Visiting Harvey's island, players were able to assist the married alpacas, Cyrus and Reese, celebrate their anniversary by recreating their wedding and taking a variety of themed photos. By doing so, players earned heart crystals that could be used to purchase exclusive wedding furniture.
Being an entirely new event for the franchise, there isn't a guarantee that Wedding Season will return this year in the same way. It would need to return in some fashion though for new players to be given a chance to obtain the wedding themed furniture. For 2021, it might be a fun idea to have other special Animal Crossing NPCs appear who are looking to renew their vows or tie the knot for the first time, like Pete and Phyllis (or Pelly).
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has already hosted a few major holidays in 2021, but there's sure to be much more to come that will keep players busy throughout the year.
