Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will see a lot of improvements when the game’s 2.0 update is released on November 5. On top of the addition of classic characters to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there will also be new items, expanded storage space, and major changes to different parts of the game. One of the most notable of these changes will be to Harv’s Island.

The location was previously used as a photo studio and didn’t offer a whole lot more. While it did allow players to make some incredible creations, there was still a lot of space behind Harv’s house that went unused. With the 2.0 update, alongside the Froggy Chair coming to New Horizons, players will be able to invest their bells and bring several permanent vendors to Harv's Island that were previously determined by sheer luck or the day of the week.

Harriet

november 2021 update harvs island npc additions

Harriet will kick things off for players and help them bring in other vendors as well. She will continue her role as her hairstylist, and also teaches players some new styles they can use from then on. While this isn’t as big a quality-of-life change for Animal Crossing: New Horizons as other aspects of the November 5 update, it is only the start of what players can expect.

After Harriet and Harv’s renovations go through, the Animal Crossing Direct showed how players can invite several different vendors to interact with. Since each of these vendors hasn’t been given a permanent shop on players’ islands yet, fans should begin to find expanding their furniture collections and rare item hunting a bit easier than it has been.

Redd

Animal Crossing New Horizon Fake Art Redd

The permanent addition of Redd should make filling out parts of the museum significantly easier. While Brewster and his cafe will also be added to the game, they won’t be affecting how players acquire art. Since this is Redd’s expertise, players should be able to start filling out any missing parts of their exhibits soon after the November 5 update goes live.

Saharah

Saharah might not help fill the island’s museum, but she does carry unique flooring, rugs, and wallpaper. Since these items have been mostly available at random since launch and only obtainable on her specific day of the week, it will be a nice change to see Saharah consistently. Her flooring and wallpaper options can be some of the most coveted items in-game, with unique animations being available for some. These can even rival some fans' creations, like a recent recreation of Mabe Village from Link's Awakening.

Kicks

Animal Crossing New Horizons Kicks Shop

A somewhat odd addition to Harv’s Island is Kicks. In the past, Kicks’ store has been an add-on to the Able Sisters’, but appears in the open market for Animal Crossing: New Horizons instead. While it doesn't take much to get to Harv’s Island, for a character like Kicks it may have been nice to see him connected with the other clothing vendors in the game. Still, the addition of Kicks’ shop will mean players have an easier time building outfits, with more options available in the shoes, socks, and accessories departments.

Leif

Leif will also have a shop on Harv’s Island, selling special flora to players. This should be exciting for many fans, because it’s likely many of the shops on Harv’s Island could see inventory expansions, but Leif in particular should have some new options. The Boat Tours that Kapp’n will take players on have shown off some interesting plants to collect. Hopefully, with the addition of Leif’s shop, fans will see some of these plants added into the green thumb’s rotation.

Katrina

The addition of the fortune teller Katrina means players can get a sense of their luck for the day when they visit Harv's Island. In the past, the player’s fortune has determined things like the amount of money dropped from the Money Rock and materials that drop from trees. With how important crafting can be in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players should probably expect the return of these mechanics, and use good fortune to stock up on resources for the new DIY tool.

Tortimer

Animal Crossing: New Horizons confirmed Tortimer is still alive with the recent Direct, which has dissuaded some fans' fears. Tortimer hosted Tours in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and will now receive his own shop in the open market on Harv's Island. While it doesn’t seem like his mini-games will return, which means a major feature is still missing from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it is nice to see a beloved face interacting with players again.

Reese and Cyrus

nintendo switch marriage mechanic

Possibly the most anticipated addition to Harv’s Island will be Reese and Cyrus. The duo will help players customize furniture they can’t customize on their own, allowing for even more of a personal touch on players' islands. This function is one that many fans had anticipated, so finally getting them on to Harv’s Island with the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update is big.

With the addition of Reese, Cyrus, and everyone else, it looks like players will have a lot more flexibility when it comes to collecting and customizing items after the open market is finished. It will take time and bells to complete, but there are some great additions to look forward to. On top of this, there are a lot of NPCs in the 2.0 update that have been absent from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Their additions to the game should help the player experience feel even more like a classic Animal Crossing game moving foward.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
