Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released on March 20th after a delay of a couple months. However, a number of glitches and bugs exist in the title that can have some very negative effects for players. While a certain bug that has helped players rack up bells quickly has been patched out with the 1.1.1 update, harmful bugs still remain in the game.

These bugs are present within Animal Crossing: New Horizons' 1.1.2a update. While some are triggered randomly, some require certain actions to replicate. Players should not attempt to replicate these bugs if avoidable due to there being absolutely no positive effects to them.

Balloon Spawning Glitch

This glitch stops balloons from spawning at all after a player has popped 300 balloons and gets the Nook Miles reward for doing so. This is especially problematic with the current Bunny Day event requiring players to shoot down a lot of balloons in order to collect sky eggs. There is no current way to stop this from happening, except by making a new player profile on the Switch and popping balloons with it until it reaches 300 as well.

Fish Bait Item Deletion Glitch

If a player uses fish bait while someone is leaving or arriving at the island that the player is on, all of the items in the player's inventory will be completely deleted. This must be done while the animation for the fish bait is playing. Items deleted with this glitch can never be recovered.

Villager Song Loop Glitch

If a player picks up a stereo while it's playing just as a villager is about to sing along to the music, the villager will be trapped in a loop where they attempt to start and stop singing. They will still function normally outside of the loop. In order to fix this, players must drop a music player next to the glitched villager, then start and stop the music before they pick the player back up.

Ranchu Goldfish Furniture Glitch

Unlike other fish of its size, the Ranchu Goldfish cannot be placed on top of other furniture items such as tables.

NookPhone Friends App Glitch

Even if players aren't connected to the internet with their switch, the friends app on their NookPhone will give random notifications with no meaning to them.

After the 1.1.2a update, many harmful glitches were patched out, such as the Missing Villager Glitch. It is unknown when patches will come by fixing these glitches, but players should remain wary of strange activity in their games.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
