Those that participate in the tourney can get their hands on a variety of fish-themed rewards, in addition to Bronze, Silver, and Gold trophies. Since players only have a limited time to participate in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons fishing tourney, they will no doubt want to maximize their potential to catch fish and get rewards.
Preparing for the Fishing Tourney
Before players get started, they will want to make some preparations. Fish that players catch during the fishing tourney are not kept in their inventory, so they don't have to worry too much about inventory space. Because of this, players can make sure that they have at least one spare fishing rod in their inventory, along with plenty of fish bait. New Horizons players should craft at least 10 fish bait bags before they start the tourney.
To craft fish bait in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players need to collect manila clams. Manila clams are found on the beach, in the little holes that have water spurting out of them. When players spot a manila clam, they need to dig it out of the sand using a shovel, and then take it to a crafting bench to turn it into fish bait.
How to Start Fishing Tourney
When they're ready to start the fishing tourney, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players need to speak with CJ at the plaza. Players will recognize CJ as the character that appears occasionally and buys fish for a higher rate than Nook's Cranny. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can enter the first fishing tourney for free, but subsequent entries will cost 500 bells a pop. Players should definitely keep that in mind as they participate in the events.
Fishing Tourney Tips
Once players are properly prepared and ready to start their fishing tourney, there are a couple more tips to keep in mind. For one, players will want to be careful about sprinting. Sprinting too close to the water will cause fish to swim away, wasting valuable time.
Secondly, players will want want to want to avoid Bunny Day eggs while fishing if possible. Bunny Day eggs in the water are always medium to large size fish, so it's a gamble to go for those during the fishing tourney. However, if players are finding it difficult to find other fish, they may want to risk it and go for that size of fish anyway.
Fishing Tourney Rewards
Once three minutes have passed, the fishing tourney will end. At that point, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will be able to spend their points to get fish swag.
