While it is easy enough to catch the slow-moving sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, things become significantly more difficult when trying to capture species that have a bit of speed. Indeed, critters like the Giant Isopod and Gigas Giant Clam have the ability to easily evade a player's grasp, and this guide will cover exactly how fans should go about catching these fast sea creatures in ACNH.

To start, it is important to establish that there are different swim speeds that players can attain in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. To swim at the slowest speed, fans must simply use the analog stick without pressing any other buttons while in the water, and this is exactly what they should do when attempting to catch ACNH's fastest sea creatures.

More specifically, players should use this slow swim speed when approaching the bubbles that indicate that a sea creature is down below, and they should then dive when their character is directly on top of those bubbles. If this method is employed correctly then the critter below should not flee, allowing fans to easily catch even the fastest species for their museums in ACNH.

For some players it may feel slightly counterintuitive to not pursue speedy sea creatures by swimming fast in New Horizons, but they can think about this approach as being similar to how they might try to catch a skittish bug in the game. In those situations, fans must sneak up on the species to prevent them from flying or running away, and this element of surprise must also be employed when hunting fast deep-sea creatures in ACNH.

Of course, it is a bit difficult to determine how fast a sea creature is going to be before a player dives for it, and thus it can be challenging to know exactly when to employ the method outlined above. As such, fans that have not yet completed their Critterpedias, or simply want to sell these speedy critters for a lot of Bells at Nook's Cranny, may simply want to approach all the bubbles that they see using the slow swim speed.
