Though the Christmas period may be over, there's still plenty of winter-themed fun for players to have in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Since the inclusion of the Winter Update in November 2020, which added new NPCs, snow effects to the map and more, players have been able to enjoy the fun of the colder season without actually having to step outside into the cold.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game that encourages creativity, with players being able to customize their islands however they see fit. Over the years since its release, players have created some seriously impressive islands. Some take inspiration from games, movies, and TV shows, such as one Animal Crossing player's island that is a tribute to Stardew Valley, while others make homes of their own design, like one player who created a home with 70s inspired decor. Besides player homes though, the snow provided in the Winter season of Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows players to make a much simpler creation in the form of a snowman.

One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player found that they were barely involved in the creation of their snowman, as they received help from two dung beetles that rolled both the body and head of the snowman. Shown in a video posted to Reddit, the player only has to finish the snowman after the helpful beetles have done most of the legwork in making the snowman. After their work is done, the beetles disappear, fading away likely to help another lucky player perfect their snowman.

According to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community, this isn't the first time dung beetles have rolled snow rather than dung. One player wrote "I once had 2 dung beetles rolling up snow balls together. They flew away when I approached them, but then I literally just nudged the 2 balls together and voila, perfect snow boy," while others also shared their stories of dung beetles helping out to create snowmen. Not every bug in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as helpful though. One player found that out the hard way, after a bug dropped a snowball on them from a tree.

Apart from making snowmen, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can find other unique events and activities during the Winter months. Ice fishing is something else Animal Crossing fans have been doing in order to complete their fish collections, with some players getting creative to make unique ice fishing shacks.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on the Nintendo Switch.
