Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have had nearly two years to customize their islands with the game’s items and construction capabilities. In this time, players have made an endless stream of unique creations and tributes. In the latest display of this player creativity, one Animal Crossing: New Horizons player created an abandoned drive-in movie theater.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the latest game in the long-running life simulation franchise. Through its latest update, the game gained new items as well as a farming mechanic which helped make this creation possible. Drive-in movie theaters rose in popularity throughout the 20th century, peaking from the late 1940s to the 1960s but have since become harder to find.
This abandoned drive-in movie theater was created by u/Castle-n-the-sky and it shows off a lot of dedication. The player has set up a large screen in an open field of wheat with three vehicles surrounding it. This all combines to create a completely believable abandoned drive-in movie theater in the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The player managed to plant wheat crops all over this place, making it look as though the cars have been watching this projector for many years. Considering the amount of wheat and the rarity of the items, this creation must have taken a great deal of time to finish but it is a recognizable and interesting creation in the game.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a long list of different items that appear in the Nook Stop Terminal, Nook’s Cranny, and as gifts from fellow island dwellers but matching this look might be a challenge for interested players. Fortunately, the wheat field that players see in this post can be recreated by checking back in with Leif, the sloth who sells plants and crops in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Unfortunately, the vehicles are only discoverable in the Nook Stop Terminal in the base version of the game and will only appear so often.
What helps make this creation look so well are the cars that u/Castle-n-the-sky placed among the wheat. These vehicles are, unfortunately, quite a challenge to get in Animal Crossing: New Horizons but that is part of what makes builds such as this one so interesting. The challenge of getting just the right items for a creation helps fuel player creativity.
Then again, having some of the more interesting and expensive items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as some of the more challenging to get can be frustrating. Especially for those players that are just one or two items away from their goal. Either way, this creation is an impressive reminder of the once popular drive-in movie theaters.
