Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans were treated to a nice surprise last night. Nintendo decided to push Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ big 2.0 update out early, with fans able to access all the new content a few days earlier than what was expected.

With this being the last free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo has gone above and beyond. There are many new things to do, from building all the shops on Harv’s Island to buying some of the many new Nook Miles items. However, one of the biggest draws is the addition of Brewster, and players will need to put in some work to get the coffee-lover onto their islands.

Prerequisites For Unlocking Brewster

Before players can actually bring Brewster to their Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands, they will need to get at least a 3-star island. Adding flowers and decorations should make this fairly easy to do. Next up, players need to unlock the Art Wing of the museum, which is done by donating 60 items to the museum. After Redd shows up on the island, the option to unlock this museum area will be opened up.

Players will also need to donate one of every item type to the museum if they have not done so already. At least one bug, fish, sea creature, and art piece will be required. A fossil would also be smart to have donated just in case. Once this is done, and the 2.0 update is downloaded, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can go talk to Blathers. He will tell them about his friend Brewster, asking players to find the large bird after handing them a photo of his companion.

Tracking Down Brewster And Opening The Cafe

Blathers will tell Animal Crossing: New Horizons players that Brewster is obsessed with the newly added Gyroids. As such, players will be able to find him on one of the special islands that Kapp’n can take them to. Kapp’n can be found on the island pier, and he will ask players for 1,000 Nook Miles in order to ferry them off to a mystery island. As always, the quickest way to get Nook Miles is through the daily tasks.

After an adorable journey with Kapp’n, players will arrive on the special island, and they should spot Brewster instantly. They will want to tell the character that Blathers needs him, and he will hand over a gyroid fragment that can be planted (a second gyroid can be dug up on this island for those interested). Players can then return to Blathers to give him this news, and construction of the cafe will begin. This process will see the museum shut down for two days, so players should hand over any museum items prior to this discussion.

For those that do not time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this wait could feel like a long one. Still, with Brewster’s cafe looking like a ton of fun, players’ patience should be rewarded with a welcome feature. A ceremony can be held once the cafe is built, though this is purely optional. If players want to skip right to the cafe content, they can head inside The Roost as soon as it has been built.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
