Nintendo used an entire Nintendo Direct presentation to showcase the big new features that made up the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update, but even then there's plenty in the update that wasn't covered ahead of time. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are discovering all sorts of secrets and surprises since downloading the new update, including the existence of a brand new holiday event.

Nintendo Life used Animal Crossing: New Horizons time travel methods to head forward in time, discovering a brand new event in the process. From Friday, November 26 to November 30, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can look forward to the special Nook Friday event, basically the Animal Crossing world equivalent of Black Friday. While the event is active, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can get big discounts at Nook's Cranny.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans may want to start saving up some bells now, as all items at Nook's Cranny will be 30% off their usual asking price while the Nook Friday event is live. This could save Animal Crossing: New Horizons players a significant amount of cash, especially if Nook's Cranny has some of the more expensive items on sale during Nook Friday.

It's possible that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is hiding more secret holidays and events in its big 2.0 update, though that remains to be seen. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update added a ton of new content to the game, like the ability to grow crops, cook, visit Brewster at his cafe, and much more. Needless to say, the update should keep fans of Nintendo's social simulation game busy for quite some time to come.

And that's good for fans, as the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update is going to be the last major update for the game. But while Nintendo is done making new content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the nature of the game should ensure that there's still always something to look forward to. Not only do fans have Nook Friday coming up, but they can also look forward to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Christmas event next month.

The changing of seasons in Animal Crossing: New Horizons also marks the cycling in and out of new bugs, fish, and sea creatures for players to collect for their museums. Abusing Animal Crossing: New Horizons time travel methods can speed things up, but otherwise it's likely that completionists will have to keep playing the game for a long time to come if they want to truly "complete" it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, excluisively for the Nintendo Switch.
