A player discovered that the color of the airport in Animal Crossing: New Horizons may influence the color of other items in the game as well. The user posted their findings to Reddit, where the post quickly gained attention.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has exploded in its popularity since its release about three months ago, and players have been exploring the game to understand the ins and outs of how it works. Some players have unearthed unusual glitches in the game, while others are experimenting with the game to customize and create their own perfect island. While on this quest, Reddit user and Animal Crossing: New Horizons player PraiseHolo stumbled upon some interesting consistencies.

This user attempted to reset their island to get a specific combination of airport colors and streetlamp colors; however, despite their many attempts they could not seem to get the color sequences they were looking for. During their endeavors, the user realized that there was a recurring pattern between the airport colors of an island and the colors of other items on the island as well. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons player cross-referenced these item colors with friends’ NookStops to reveal that there was a noticeable connection between airport color and the colors of items such as street lights, the snack machine, and the monster statue.

While there have been some exceptions to this theory posted since its initial assertion, the conversation growing around this shows that certain item colors in the game aren’t as random as players had previously assumed. Aspects of Animal Crossing: New Horizons like upgrading Nook’s Cranny were also thought to be random until players discovered what really triggers the change. Discoveries like these inspire fans to dig deeper into the game and figure out how to make player experiences the best that they can be.

With wonderful crossovers of fan-created content in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and plenty of positive contributions from players, the community of this game is growing at a speedy pace and proving that players are willing to work together to help each create their own ideal environments.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
