Animal Crossing: New Horizons was recently featured in its very own Nintendo Direct showcase where Nintendo revealed a ton of new content coming to the game. And in usual Animal Crossing: New Horizons fashion, a lot of this content is going to be completely free for players.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update arrives for free on Friday, November 5, and it is bringing a ton of new content to the game. This is the most significant post-launch update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons to date, and it goes a long way in making quality of life improvements as well as giving Animal Crossing players new things to do on their islands.

Here is everything coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons as part of the 2.0 update on November 5. Keep in mind that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Homes Paradise DLC is coming the same day for $24.99.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons New NPCs Coming on November 5

One of the most exciting new additions in any Animal Crossing: New Horizons update is when fans are able to meet new NPCs, as they often bring with them new gameplay features or items. The big Animal Crossing: New Horizons November 5 update will see the addition of multiple new NPCs for players to interact, headlined by the return of some of the franchise's most popular characters.

As previously teased, Brewster and his cafe The Roost are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with The Roost tacked on to the Museum as an expansion of that building. Players can visit The Roost to drink coffee and interact with island residents, including villagers and more important characters like Isabelle. Animal Crossing amiibo can be used to bring more specific characters to The Roost, plus players can hang out there with their friends when playing in co-op if they'd like.

Brewster isn't the only new NPC coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the November 5 update. He will be joined by Kapp'n, who will appear on the island's pier. Players can talk to Kapp'n and give him 1,000 Nook Miles to ferry them to a mysterious island. The gimmick with these islands is that they can be a different season or time of day than one's island, allowing players to collect out of season bugs and fish. Needless to say, this should go a long way in helping players fully complete their Nook Mileage Rewards quests.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Harv's Island Changes

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have been able to visit Harv's Island to take themed photographs, but the island is getting some big changes that will make it a much more worthwhile visit. After downloading the November 5 update, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will be able to help Harv build a plaza by contributing bells to gyroids that are on the island. Building this plaza will see temporary New Horizons NPC set up shop, so players will find it easier to find and interact with these characters.

While being able to interact with NPCs that would normally only be available on a certain time or day of the week is perhaps the main draw with the Harv's Island changes, there will be some new NPCs to interact with as well. Players can talk to Katrina to get their fortune told, and they will also be able to interact with the retired Tortimer. On top of all that, Harriet will also be found on Harv's Island and can outfit Animal Crossing: New Horizons players with some fresh hairstyles.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island Improvements

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons November 5 update will include improvements to one's own island, adding various quality of life improvements and giving players more to do in general. This includes a group stretching activity that even allows players to use motion controls so they can get some legitimate, real life exercise in while they play the game. Players will also be able to enact island ordinances to customize the way their villagers behave, plus change up the exterior of their homes.

Tom Nook is expanding his services beyond just letting players customize the exterior of their Animal Crossing: New Horizons homes, however. Players will also be able to upgrade their storage capacity so that they can hold up to 5,000 items. They can build storage sheds to access their home's storage wherever they want on their island, which should seriously cut down on times when players have to run back home to replace a tool or dump the items they're carrying. Players can also acquire ABDs (especially Animal Crossing ATMs) that they can put on the island for more convenient money management.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will have new activities as well, like planting crops and then using those cropes in cooking recipes. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons DIY recipes will now include various food items that players can complete in their home kitchens.

There are plenty of construction-based improvements coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the November 5 update as well, like the ability to add lighting and ceiling decor. Players will have more freedom when it comes to customizing the look of their homes, and they will now be able to build 10 bridges and inclines as opposed to the previous cap of eight. New fence types will be available, with players able to better customize the look of their Animal Crossing: New Horizons fencing.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons NookPhone Upgrades

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons NookPhone is getting some new apps to improve life on one's island even more. The NookPhone camera will now allow players to walk around in first-person, giving Animal Crossing: New Horizons a brand new perspective that wasn't possible before. Players can also set their NookPhone cameras up on a tripod to help when they're taking photos of their island as well.

The Island Life 101 app will provide Animal Crossing: New Horizons players some tips on what they should do on their island. This should help give players a greater sense of direction when they're playing the game, and should be especially helpful for newcomers or lapsed players who haven't played New Horizons in a long time.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gyroids

As previously leaked, the November 5 update is bringing gyroids to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A common sight in previous Animal Crossing games, players will be able to find gyroid fragments buried on their islands. They can then plant and water them to make them grow into complete gyroids, which will be obtainable the day after it rains. The gyroids will make unique sounds, with players able to bring many of them together to create music. Like many other items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will be able to customize each gyroid's appearance to better match whatever room they decide to display them in.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Wooden Ladder Set-Up Kit

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players already have a useful set of tools that they can use to make navigating their islands a little easier, but the November 5 update will see the addition of the Wooden Ladder Set-Up Kit. This brand new tool will allow Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to set up permanent ladders around their island, so they won't necessarily have to carry around the temporary one anymore.

Other Animal Crossing: New Horizons Features Coming November 5

On top of all this, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can also look forward to new patterns that they can customize their clothes with, new hairstyles, new reactions, new furniture that can be purchased with Nook Miles, new songs from K.K. Slider, new items to purchase from Nook's Cranny, the ability to navigate tight spaces, and new interactions with the various Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers.

Nintendo has confirmed that this is going to be the last major free content update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so it's great to see that the developers are going out with a bang.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
