The most relaxing game to be released in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become the go-to escape for many gamers and non-gamers alike. The game allows players to design their own island, and the best part of that is expanding and designing the house that they live in.

By collecting bells, they can pay off their loans and get more rooms in their house — even a basement and attic. But since only one person is living there, many are left wondering what exactly to do with the rest of the rooms once they have the basics. Or perhaps they want to be super creative and not even have the basics.

These are some awesome ideas for themed rooms.

10 A Harry Potter-Themed Room

Reddit user Shelbae176 has taken custom designs to the next level and created a Harry Potter based room. With the Gryffindor clothes, the staple Harry glasses, and even a Deathly Hallows bedspread, this room is pretty amazing.

Is that the Mirror of Erised in the corner?

You can create your own Hogwarts-themed room too. Many of the items in the game are suitable for the witchy room, and you can always use custom designs shared by others to enhance the magic.

9 Or Any Fandom You Love!

Harry Potter isn't the only fandom worthy of a room. Reddit user goust_master recreated a scene from The Office in this room, and look how easy it was to do — and yet how recognizable it is.

Pick your favorite fandom, whether it's some magical fantasy like Harry Potter or a sitcom like The Office and go to town. You can recreate the vague theme or you can go super specific like this one, and give anyone visiting a good laugh.

8 Plant Room

They say plants are the new cats, and Reddit user Grayce_Fayce has made a very pretty plant room in honor of them. Many plants can be purchased throughout the game, and you can grow and pick flowers to display inside too. The beautiful brown and green theme is very natural and inspiring.

7 In-House Aquarium

Reddit user ballisticBacteria made an aquarium in their home! It's not part of New Horizons, but it's a solid idea to do the same in the latest game. Fish can be donated to Blathers, or sold to Nook's Cranny, but you could also just keep them in tanks and display them around the house.

Obviously in real life, these tanks would be way too small, but in the game, the fish seem pretty happy. Or so it seems. There's also plenty of flooring and wallpaper that can be used to match this theme.

6 An Office

Instead of recreating the sitcom, players could make an actual office.

Some villagers make their entire home into an office. It's best you don't go that far — you have more rooms than they do so there's no need — but the game provides chairs, desks, a whiteboard, even a water cooler. Work from home.

5 Turnip Storage Room

It's not a particularly exciting room, but it's often necessary.

Working the stalk market means buying an excessive amount of turnips — often more than your inventory can handle. You could store them outside, but if you have visitors over that you don't particularly trust, it might be better to have a room dedicated to it. You could also just fence them off so no one can steal them.

But at least by making this room, they're always in one place.

4 Horror Room

This particular example by YouTube user No One may be outside, but it's great inspiration nonetheless.

If you're a fan of horror movies, there are many settings you could recreate within the rooms of your home. Granted, it might put some visitors off coming back and it's disturbing imagery in the otherwise cutesy land of Animal Crossing, but the design is pretty awesome.

3 Craft Room

If you're super into your DIYs, you can have a craft room! Your workbench can be stored here as well as any materials that you don't want to carry around with you all day such as stone, clay, iron nuggets, wood... They don't need to stay in your pocket! There are also furniture items such as a tool cart that can make the room more aesthetically pleasing.

2 An Arcade

Arcade machines aren't cheap at Nook's Cranny, but YouTuber vanburen20 got them all — and you can too, if you're willing to save up that much! An arcade room is a pretty awesome idea when you have friends over, and the matching stools next to each arcade machine are the cherry on top. Look at those Mario lamps too!

1 Art Room

Not all real paintings have to go to Blathers. If you end up with some fakes from Redd, or your own custom designs, why not have a room that's not functional at all, but purely just designed to be pleasing to the eye? Sometimes it's nice to just go somewhere to sit around and relax in your very own private art gallery.
