Animal Crossing: New Horizons is loaded with adorable villagers. While some villagers look rather intimidating, others give off cutesy, huggable vibes. With that said, it's definitely not always safe to judge characters by their looks in this game. Be careful when assuming that cuteness equals kindness here in the Animal Crossing World!

There are several inhabitant species in Animal Crossing, but this list looks specifically at mice. Some of their personalities do not match their appearances, but that's okay. Even the crankier and snootier villagers have their soft sides. Players will definitely want these top 10 most adorable mouse characters living on their islands pronto!

10 Dora

This pun is definitely unintentional, so don't overthink it, but Dora is an adorable blue and white mouse. Her personality is normal, and she often talks about her hobby, education. She loves purple items and herb gardens, so that's good to keep in mind when trying to befriend her.

Dora has a button nose and rosy cheeks. She has a little half-smile and tall, oval eyes. Her eyebrows are thin and arched, and the insides of her ears are blue. They almost look like little fortune cookies, which is a trait that most mice characters share in this game.

9 Broccolo

The toddler-like blue mouse Broccolo is a cute beady-eyed villager. His happy smile resembles Toad from Super Mario, and his colorful block shirt emphasizes his childish interests. Broccolo is lazy, and he often uses the catchphrase "eat it." He also has a bowl cut, and his house is filled with children's toys and kiddish decor.

Broccolo wants to use 3-D printers to create real houses from toy blocks. This little fella also asks players to make him a tricycle. This shows that he can't even ride a regular bicycle, which means he probably isn't very old at all. Where are this guy's parents, and why is he staying on an island by himself? As precious as he may be, it's a little strange that he's living on his own.

8 Bree

Bree is a snooty character, so she's definitely not the friendliest. She has an obsession with tidiness, and her life passion is to become a dermatologist. Yay for perfection! While she may be emotionally stern, that doesn't change how adorable she is.

Bree's green eyes and purple flower shirt make her look like a little folklore forest mouse. This mouse looks like something that a green witch may keep as a pet. She carries a smile despite her snooty nature, and she wears a pink blush that matches her ears. Bree looks way more approachable than she actually is, but that's acceptable. This list is about cuteness, not rudeness!

7 Candi

This precious pink villager is the most adorable mouse of them all. Candi is a peppy character, always looking on the bright side, and calling everyone "sweetie." Like Dora, she carries a half-smile and she has oval eyes. However, her eyes have white pupils and two long eyelashes. Don't forget that she's a star!

Candi is almost always excitable and will often express how "totes fab" things are. Additionally, she frequently says "ohmigosh!" She is also a feminist at heart. She expresses her opinion on how disgusting the idea of Prince Charming is, and talks about equality within relationships. Candi also claims that she's famous and she talks about performing on stage. Who's to say she's exaggerating?

6 Anicotti

Anicotti is a cute little green mouse. Her name sounds like the popular Italian dish "Manicotti," but that's probably just a coincidence, right? Well, she does use the word "cannoli" fairly often. Her connection to Italian dishes is undeniable, but it doesn't factor into her personality that much.

Green must be this girl's color. She has green eyeshadow, green skin, light green blush, and her house is full of green furniture. Her home also has green siding and a light green door. Color themes for the win! Anicotti has a normal personality and is easy to get along with. She's a pleasant character to have around the island.

5 Samson

Samson is a cute little jock whose appearance is actually very accurate for a mouse. He has a gray body with pink ears, and, like most athletic Animal Crossing villagers, he's always talking about working out. He has a big, wide smile and looks more smug than jock-like. His furrowed brows emphasize his determination. Competition is his main focus.

Despite his obsession with fitness, this fella isn't too self-absorbed. He is very kind to players and other villagers, recognizing their interests and cheering them on. What a wholesome little dude! Samson likes to work out to build muscles because he is the smallest amongst his siblings. His e-card states that he hates being called scrawny, as any normal person—or mouse—would. Commenting on someone's size is rude!

4 Rod

Rod is another wholesome jock mouse. This fella is purple with bright, excited eyes and a regular smile. He has a little swoop of blondish yellow bangs that peek out from under his headband. He also has two little whisker-like marks on each side of his face.

Rod's house looks like a beach area, mostly due to its furniture. With its ocean wallpaper, a sunbathing chair, and an indoor pool, it's like its own little getaway. His house matches his pirate-themed outfit pretty well. This guy is also a diverse character, as he's seen wearing everything from pirate clothes or athletic wear to a dress shirt and tie! Many fans claim he's the best jock mouse. What a precious little bean!

3 Greta

Ms. Greta is a villager who resembles a sweet grandmother. While her personality type is snooty, she generally comes off as friendly. She expresses gratitude and doesn't seem rude compared to other "snooty" Animal Crossing characters. Greta has bright red lipstick, neon pink ears, and coral-colored blush that matches the stripes on her tail.

Her home is cozy and traditional, with neutral colors and a natural back-to-basics vibe. She says "yelp" when ending sentences, and she enjoys playing horseshoes in her free time. Additionally, Greta eventually wants to become a florist. She's a wholesome little flower-loving grandma. Support local florist mice!

2 Rizzo

In New Horizons, Rizzo is a sassy little fellow, which isn't surprising since his personality is "cranky." Nonetheless, he's adorable even when he's grumpy. This villager is a gray mouse with pink ears, similar to Samson, but he's far less cheery. He wears a purple scarf around his face and he has very animated eyes.

This fella can be kind when he wants to be, but sometimes his kindness gets him in trouble. For example, players can see an interaction between Rizzo and a villager named Claudia, where he gives her a yellow flower. She interprets this as meaning something more than it does, and Rizzo regrets his kind actions. This leads to him spouting his typical sarcastic slander yet again.

1 Bella

Bella is like a punk rock version of Candi. She has white fur and wide eyes, pink ears, and she wears a skull shirt. Her house and decor match her aesthetic, with an apparent gothic theme. There are skulls everywhere! Despite all the darkness, she still comes off as cheery and upbeat.

Both Candi and Bella are peppy villagers who love to sing and dance. The big difference is that Bella's music taste is slightly edgier than Candi's is. Like Candi, Bella is very kind to players and gets excited easily. Players will want to have either Candi or Bella on their islands if they want some positive-mouse-energy radiating throughout their village.
