Over the past week, Nintendo players and video game enthusiasts alike have been glued to their favorite news sites as more details and information come out about the massive 'gigaleak.' For Animal Crossing, an unused cat villager was discovered in the code for the original game, but that is no longer the biggest development in regards to Animal Forest. It turns out that human NPCs were planned in the early stages of development for the game.

Earlier this week, two posts on the site 4Chan shared files that contained a plethora of early builds and concepts of Nintendo games over the years. While it's currently unknown how this user got ahold of this data, this massive leak of early Nintendo game prototypes began to circulate online and started being referred to as the Nintendo Gigaleak.

Now, people have begun to band together to comb the many gigabytes of data released in this Nintendo leak. TV, the developer who previously discovered Catty, the unused cat villager, has now also uncovered another major find for Animal Forest: two human NPCs. After recreating the models, they presented both SOLDIER and OBA to the world.

While the character SOLDIER, dressed in their very Royal Guard-inspired uniform, is fairly self-explanatory as to who they were, OBA is a little harder to place. Many are speculating that OBA is a farmer, and may have ultimately been replaced by the turnip dealing boar, Joan, who in turn was replaced by Daisy Mae in the case of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The topic of how these leaks came about is still a major topic of debate in the gaming community. Over the past several months, massive leaks of Nintendo source codes have been happening regularly. The difference here, however, is that the Gigaleak has been primarily builds of older games from the SNES and N64, while the prior leaks have been for newer hardware like the 3DS source code.

Currently, there's been no word from Nintendo on if it plans to pursue legal action against those who leaked this data. Considering Nintendo's propensity towards suing leakers, it may be best for those involved in the Gigaleak to lay low while everyone else continues to pour through this fascinating information.
