Everyone's favorite three web slingers continue to stay in touch, as Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire sent Andrew Garfield some heartwarming messages after Garfield earned an Academy Award nomination for his role in Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical tick, Ttick...BOOM!

For Garfield, 2021 was quite the year. On top of his tour de force performance in Tick, Tick...BOOM!, in which he played Jonathan Larson, the composer/lyricist/playwright known for creating the iconic rock musical Rent, the real talk was around his big appearance in Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he joined Holland and Maguire's Spider-Men and several other Spidey characters from previous installments in one epic adventure.

Speaking with Jon Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield shared that his Spider-Man co-stars congratulated him on his much-deserved nomination right after they were announced. “Yeah I have!” Garfield responded when asked if he had heard from Holland and Maguire following the nomination announcements. “I got a sweet, sweet text from Tom and Tobey. Very, very sweet. The Spider brothers are in action today and they’ve been very, very supportive. It’s very lovely.”

Because No Way Home deals with the multiverse, Garfield was able to reprise his Spider-Man role following the letdown of a film that is The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Garfield's emotional and youthful performance was immediately praised by critics and fans following No Way Home's release. In fact, many are now pushing Sony to move forward with The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which had been axed back when Marvel Studios and Sony reached a deal to co-produce new Spidey films that would eventually star Holland.

While The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is very possible, considering the growing number of characters crossing over in the Sony/MCU Spider-Man universe as well as producer Amy Pascal's planned Spider-Man films, it's more likely audiences can see Garfield donning the suit again on the big screen at some point in another crossover event. But so far, Garfield has shared that he is still waiting on the call to return as Spider-Man.

For now, though, fans will just have to watch his amazing performances in both the acclaimed Marvel Studios and Netflix films. For Garfield's Best Actor nomination, he will be joining other big talents like Will Smith (King Richard), Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), and Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog). While it is certainly hard to predict whose name will be called at the ceremony, that doesn't take away from all the amazing performances each of the nominees showcased this past year.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters while Tick, Tick...BOOM! is available to stream on Netflix. The Oscars will be held on March 27, 2022.
