The hit studio behind the gory MadWorld and sexy Bayonetta is at it again with Anarchy Reigns. Known for their over the top character designs, Platinum Games is once again marketing their in-development title by way of its eccentric characters. Last week, they revealed Sasha and Big Bull and now they have released information on another character.
Without further ado, here is the premiere of the game's latest fighter, a man known simply as Jack:
Jack may look familiar to Wii owners because he's actually the main character from MadWorld, a game that has influenced Anarchy Reigns tremendously. In fact, Anarchy Reigns is a pseudo-sequel to MadWorld and aims to bring the crazy action of the Wii-exclusive to new audiences on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
For those who haven’t played MadWorld, Jack is a no-nonsense tough guy who, quite frankly, loves violence. At 42, he may not sound threatening, but his hulking 7'2" and 507-pound body says otherwise. He is a beast of a man and it doesn’t hurt that he comes wielding 'Gator Tooth,' a retractable double bladed chainsaw, mounted on his right arm.
It is not quite clear if any story or gameplay elements will carry over form MadWorld, but it is evident that they’re not toning down the violence. The trailer gives a good glimpse into the intensity and style of the game and will leave many gamers thirsting for more. The action is fast-paced, exciting, and very reminiscent of Madworld.
The partnership between Platinum Games and SEGA has led to some great games, and Anarchy Reigns seems to continue that trend. With this game, they are really pushing the characters and making an effort to create a franchise with personalities that gamers get excited about.
The future looks bright for Platinum Games and Anarchy Reigns. If you can’t get enough, be sure and check out the screenshots of Jack below.
