Pokimane is usually the first personality on Twitch that comes to mind when talking about the top female streamer on the site. That might start to look different over the next few months, as the 24-year old came second in March 2021 after fellow streamer and cosplayer Amouranth.

This wouldn't be the first time that Pokimane lost a title as most-watched female streamer. This January, it was reported that YouTube streamer Valkyrae surpassed Pokimane as the most-watched streamer in 2020. That report also mentioned female streamers are growing in popularity, something that is becoming more the case as time goes on.

Beating Pokimane on her home turf of Twitch is especially difficult. The Valorant streamer has over 7.5 million followers, as well as 168 million channel views. Comparing Amouranth's 2.3 million followers makes the feat pretty impressive. Granted, the cosplayer has utilized controversial hot tub streams when her fans have asked for it, though for the most part she sticks to gaming or ASMR streams.

According to the stats from Streams Charts, Amouranth's total hours watched for the month of March was 1,791,841 hours. Pokimane averaged roughly 1,778,685 hours total, falling behind by about 13,000 hours, an incredibly small amount given the thousands shared between the two. Interestingly, Amouranth managed to avoid being banned for any hot tub streams she might have had, especially uncanny since the streamer has seen bans in the past for similarly inappropriate content. Chances are she's been playing it extremely safe, and it definitely appears to be paying off.

One thing to note is that, while Amouranth has indeed taken home the crown as top female streamer for March, Pokimane's air time throughout the month is less than half of Amouranth's. That means although Pokimane came second, the variety streamer is putting in far less work overall. If anything else, this also serves as a testament to Pokimane's longevity as a streamer due to her consistent content. It's clear that both streamers are dedicated to delivering entertaining content for their audiences.

Hot tub streams are catching a lot of scrutiny from the Twitch community, despite their popularity among a selection of viewers. Not only have other streamers seen bans for the same content, but other streamers have also seen bans for content far less inappropriate. There's no telling if and when Twitch will make a definitive decision regarding the matter, although one thing for sure is that female streamers like Amouranth are benefiting from the massive increase in viewership.
