Social deduction game Among Us skyrocketed in popularity in 2020, and while it may not be quite as big as it once was, the game may soon get a huge boost of new players. Among Us developer Innersloth has finally confirmed the Among Us release date for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, with the game set to debut on Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service the same day it launches.

Among Us will launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on Tuesday, December 14. Among Us will be a day one Xbox Game Pass game when it launches, and will primarily be a digital release. However, there will also be some physical versions of Among Us launching with a staggered release schedule in various regions.

The Among Us Crewmate Edition will retail for $29.99 and be available on December 14 in the UK and Europe, December 16 in Japan and South Korea, and January 11, 2022 in the US, Canada, and Latin America. The pricier Imposter Edition, retailing for $49.99, will launch in spring 2022 alongside the Among Us Ejected Edition, which costs $89.99. So those that want the physical edition of Among Us for PlayStation or Xbox may have to wait a bit longer.

Among Us fans may be used to waiting, though, as they've been waiting quite a long time for the game to make its way to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. In fact, when Among Us releases for Xbox Game Pass on December 14, it will have been over a year since the Among Us Xbox Game Pass announcement was made at the 2020 Game Awards show.

Fans have been waiting a long time for the Among Us console version in general. While the Xbox Game Pass version of Among Us was announced last December, the PS4 and PS5 versions of Among Us were announced in April. Innersloth had hoped to launch Among Us on PlayStation and Xbox consoles in September, but those plans were pushed back so the developers could better optimize those versions of the game.

While the Among Us console versions have been a long time coming, at least there is now an end in sight. Fans of the social deduction game will soon have more options to play it, and its debut on PlayStation and Xbox should help it find an even wider audience. Among Us fans can mark their calendars and start counting down the days to December 14.

Among Us is out now for PC, mobile devices, and the Nintendo Switch, with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions launching December 14.
