Developers Innersloth and Schell Games officially revealed the release date for Among Us VR during Tuesday's Meta Connect showcase showing off new games for the Meta Quest. The VR version of the online sensation was originally announced during last year's Game Awards, confirming its development for Meta Quest, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR. The game will make several departures from its predecessor, with its transition to a first-person perspective as one of the most notable. Now, fans won't have to wait much longer for the popular game to come to VR platforms.

Among Us officially revealed the release date for the game's VR version during the Meta broadcast. Among Us VR is currently scheduled to launch early next month on November 10 with the game priced at $9.99. The VR version will feature similar online multiplayer to the original with lobbies of up to 10 players trying to discover the "impostors" in the group. New crewmate tasks created based on those in the original Among Us will look to take advantage of the 3D virtual reality gameplay.

The launch trailer for Among Us VR shown during the Meta Connect stream showcased several of the changes coming in the virtual reality version. Emergency meetings have been overhauled with players able to see one another during the discussions, with VR hands allowing players to point at other suspicious crewmates. The game's death scenes also feature 3D re-imaginings of many of the iconic kill animations from the original Among Us. Multiple trailers have already shown off the original game's Skeld map remade as a fully 3D environment.

Among Us VR comes after the game originally saw its explosion in popularity during 2020, following its viral success with streamers on Twitch and YouTube. Despite taking two years to catch on after its initial launch, the social deduction game has remained massively popular over the past two years. Among Us ranked as the 5th most played game of Q1 2022 earlier this year in a report from market research company The NPD Group. Innersloth has continued to roll out new content for the original game as well with new maps, roles, and accessibility features regularly added to Among Us.

Among Us VR will look to be the first major follow-up to the popular indie game with previous projects falling by the wayside. Innersloth co-founder Marcus Bromander revealed earlier this year that the developer had originally "abandoned" Among Us before its rise in popularity, intending to work on a sequel to the game. The success of Among Us also brought with it a variety of crossovers with other popular franchises like League of Legends and Fortnite. Among Us VR will look to provide a different spin on the classic gameplay with its 3D environments and virtual reality twist.

Among Us VR will release on November 10 for Meta Quest 2, PS VR, and SteamVR.
