Among Us is the unexpected hit game of 2020. After several Let's Players hyped it, the almost two-year-old game was big enough to have a spot at the Game Awards to tease a new Among Us map. Now the new map is available through a glitch exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
InnerSloth detailed the new map at the Game Awards, but the upcoming Airship map has yet to drop for any platform. This new, fourth map for the game won't be available until early 2021 to the general public. However, a glitch was discovered in the brand new Nintendo Switch version of Among Us which allowed players to try out the Airship for themselves.
Fans of Among Us that have purchased the Nintendo Switch version of the game will need a few things to try out this glitch and see the Airship map. First of all, in order to play Among Us on Switch at all, players have to have an online subscription. After that, the steps to get the new map are as follows according to YouTuber ProsafiaGaming:
- Create a Local Game in Among Us
- Go to the Laptop in the Lobby
- Scroll over Game
- Select Airship as the map
- Leave the Lobby
- Create an online game with Airship as the map
- Wait for at least four total players
- Hit play
- The new Airship map will load up
While only Switch players can currently access this map, most likely this glitch will be patched pretty quickly. However, if anyone is interested in learning the new layout, getting an idea of the different tasks, and perhaps sliding through some vents to kill crew members, they should get on their Switch quickly. Since the new map for one of the most popular multiplayer games of 2020 is still in alpha, there will most likely be some changes to the final product, but players can at least get a feel for the new map ahead of anyone else.
Among Us is already a massive success on the Nintendo Switch eShop, with its current price set at $4.99 USD. Even if a fan owns the game on another platform, it may be worth it to spend the five bucks just to be able to check out the new map, especially if they already have an online subscription. At least until InnerSloth patches this anyway; most likely players won't be able to access the Airship for very long.
