Trying to read into the deception that takes place in Among Us, or trying to be the deceiver, can be quite difficult. It would be worse without some of the important tools placed throughout each of the maps. One of the most useful tools available for anyone to use is the security cameras on The Skeld, Polus, and the Airship.

These cameras are placed in various sections around the map with the central surveillance area located in only one place. Because of its usefulness, both imposters and crewmates can build their own strategies around using the device, which can be a massive advantage if used well.

8 Imposter: Don't Kill In The Camera Room

This may be obvious, but the player killing someone in the room they plan to spend the most time in isn't going to look too good when the body is found. If players are looking to get a kill, they should leave the cameras temporarily and find someone in a room alone to take them out.

The excuse the imposter can use is that they wanted to get a task done and then returned to the cameras soon after that. But the last thing imposters want to do is put themselves at the scene of the crime.

7 Crewmate: Check Who Is With You

The security cams give crewmates the ability to check multiple rooms without moving from a single spot. Because of this, it's easy to get lost in the action that might be happening on camera. That said, it's also important to check the surroundings around surveillance for other crewmates as being able to vouch for people is going to be important.

It's also important to identify potential suspects if a kill happens nearby. Either way, players should click out of the cameras for a bit here and there to realize what's going on in the room around them.

6 Imposter: You Will Need To Kill Eventually

Spending a ton of time in the security cam room is useful when coming up with a good alibi, but unless imposters have a partner who is a murder machine not getting caught, they will need to move away from the cameras eventually.

The best way to carefully and cautiously do this is to get off of cameras every so often for reasons beyond killing someone. Imposters should go fake a task somewhere to blend in with the crewmates, then return to the security camera. Waiting too long to murder will leave time for crewmates to complete tasks.

5 Crewmate: Don't Waste Your Crewmates Time On It

Speaking of which, a similar restraint should be placed on crewmates who are looking to catch something by watching the cameras. There are two win conditions for crewmates: vote out all of the imposters or complete all the tasks.

Crewmates should not rely on trying to find a killer with the cameras. They could use it, but if tasks are getting done at a rapid pace, it will be better to just complete the tasks rather than hunt for the killers.

4 Imposter: Be Careful Using Any Nearby Vents

In both The Skeld and Polus, there are vents that lie directly behind the player when they are using the security cameras. For imposters using a security cam strategy, this may seem like a convenient way to get around the map to kill and return.

However, crewmates may be able to connect some dots on murders that are committed in rooms that have vents connected to the surveillance room. It's important to be cautious when using the vent and where to murder, because it may be easy to figure out the pathing.

3 Crewmate: Keep Clicking Around To Different Cameras

The Skeld provides four point-of-views on one screen for players to monitor, but both Polus and The Airship require people to switch between one camera at a time. This allows for a very unique strategy that makes catching bad guys a lot easier.

This is because when one camera is on, the rest of them do not have a red blinking light indicating they're on. This allows imposters to make bold kills that, if players are consistently switching between cameras, they can catch an imposter in the act. This could work on The Skeld by leaving and coming back quickly.

2 Imposter: Use It To Hunt Specific People Down

Midway through a round, imposters may start to notice certain individuals who will be more than willing to pull the trigger and vote them out, or they at least neutral about the idea. This is where the security cameras come in handy.

If an imposter survives a meeting, they should head to the camera and see if they can find the exact location of the person they need to kill. It won't always be effective, but it saves the imposter from needing to kill someone that they had as an ally.

1 Crewmate: Don't Use The Camera Late In The Round

When the number of crewmates starts dwindling, it can get really scary and stressful as the imposters may be only one or two kills away from getting the victory. This is why focusing on tasks and staying with people who are confirmed innocent may be a better play than hanging by the cameras.

It is a much more productive way of confirming alibis and potentially keeps a couple of people safe if they huddle together. The security cam can be still useful, but it also means that's one less person walking around finding a body in time to call another meeting.
