Psyonix' Rocket League has seen great success since the coronavirus pandemic began earlier this year, and it grew further once Rocket League became free-to-play in September. With that success comes a lot of players also making use of the game's custom creation tools, and one team is combining the high-octane vehicular soccer game with the social deduction breakout hit Among Us.

The project is being spearheaded by Lethamyr, a professional Rocket League player, streamer, and creator from Canada. Lethamyr's previous custom maps uploaded to Steam Workshop include video game references such as Minecraft, Fall Guys, and Mario Kart; though there are some that facilitate game modes like Pinball or Shuffleboard.

Over 1,000 hours have been put into recreating Among Us' The Skeld map in Rocket League between Lethamyr and two fellow modders: Gidek designing the core gameplay, and CinderBlock working on client networking. Lethamyr has posted a number of pictures from the in-development build on Twitter with no current release date, though his is not the only attempt to turn Among Us' popular Skeld map into a 3D space.

Among Us first released in 2018, but it ballooned in popularity this year, outselling major games like Cyberpunk 2077's pre-orders and even hosting a voter registration stream from U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex. That success led developer InnerSloth to cancel its sequel in favor of improving the current game, with plans to add a large new map into Among Us alongside plenty more. No doubt impressive fan projects will continue to pop up as it grows.

Rocket League is free-to-play on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
