After exploding in popularity in August, InnerSloth's mafia-style sleuth game, Among Us, hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. According to a recent Venture Beat report by way of Sensor Tower, the mobile version of Among Us has crossed the 217 million download mark and was the most downloaded game of October.

Among Us is continuing to crush the gaming scene in both downloads and revenue months after the game jumped onto the Twitch and YouTube scene. According to Sensor Tower, Among Us was downloaded over 75 million times on mobile devices. The game is free to download on phones but, the game features in-game microtransactions for cosmetics which generated $39 million. The success of Among Us carries over from an impressive September where the game had over 3 million concurrent players playing the game across mobile and PC.

While Among Us originally released in 2018, InnerSloth can attribute Among Us' new popularity to content creators and streamers. The game has been a huge success on Twitch and YouTube and still is, at the time of writing, the most viewed game on Twitch. Recently, YouTube streamer Dr. Disrespect teased an upcoming Among Us stream with PewDiePie, which will undoubtedly bring in a huge audience for all players involved.

Full-time streamers aren't the only players contributing to the success and popularity of Among Us, as last month United States Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) joined with other Twitch streamers for a few rounds of the game. AOC's Among Us stream amassed 4.5 million views and topped 430,000 concurrent viewers while she was live, making it one of the most-watched streams on Twitch ever.

While Twitch, YouTube, and InnerSloth are enjoying the popularity of Among Us, a few other sites are also reaping the benefits of the game's newfound audience. According to a report, Among Us seems to be doing quite well on adult sites, where the game peaked with nearly 700,000 daily searches during mid-September. Since, Among Us has come back to reality, averaging roughly 115,000 daily searches.

The newly found popularity surprised the Among Us developers at InnerSloth, and the team had originally committed to making a sequel to the newly popular game. However, after seeing just how popular Among Us is currently, the team shifted focus back to the present and canceled its plans for Among Us 2. InnerSloth did mention that plans for Among Us 2 were going to be worked back into Among Us, including a new map, bigger lobbies for more players, and more accessibility features.
