Among Us has taken the world by storm. It's the perfect game to play with friends, where the innocent crewmates have to identify the suspiciously behaving imposter, whose sole purpose is sabotaging the cremates' works, and killing them off one-by-one without being seen.

The first thing players must do before entering the deadly game is choosing a color for their character. And while most players think this is just another technicality and doesn't mean anything, there's meaning to each color. Subconsciously, everyone has a reaction to each of these colors, and in this list, players can see what the color they choose means about them, and how it can affect the game. Because believe it or not, the most sneaky players can even use the nature of their color to their advantage.

12 Red

Among Us Red Sus

Red is an assertive color. Players who choose red are most likely people who are loud, influential, and actively take part in every chat and meeting. And crewmates are more likely to suspect characters wearing this color, than anyone else, so tread lightly on the red. And if a crewmate is red, every imposter will accuse them, and they'll probably go away with it.

11 Orange

Among Us Orange with Report Button

This is neutral ground. No one can be mad at an orange, they're usually totally oblivious, and players can profit off of this. They're almost always people who just don't really care about what others are doing. Whether they're the imposter or not, they just do what has to be done, and don't really bother with others' opinions. Statistically, they're also usually the ones calling emergency meetings all the time.

10 Yellow

Among Us Yellow with Kill Button

Yellow can either be a crewmate's biggest nightmare or best friend. There's no in-between. A yellow character is just as good at stabbing people in the back as they're amazing at getting things done and identifying the imposter. Having said that, never trust a yellow, and imposters can't really use this color to their advantage. They're always a little sus.

9 Lime

Among Us Lime with Crewmate Text

A sublime choice (pun intended), lime will not hesitate to throw cyan under the bus for basically anything. They're able to get away with everything, and they're very sneaky.

Every player has to have an eye on lime. And imposters who choose this color have to be careful not to get too cocky. All the stars are in the corner of lime, be careful not to mess it up.

8 Green

Among Us Green with Imposter Text

It's no accident that all Disney villains are green. Greens are just as suspicious every time, like reds. Imposters choosing this color need to have foolproof alibis ready in every emergency meeting because chances are, they'll get accused at least twice in every meeting. And for the crewmates: green is sus. Even if they're not, accuse them, because chances are, they'll crack at the third try.

7 Cyan

Among Us Cyan with Dead Body Text

Cyan is sus even if they aren't. This is the best strategy for any imposter. Accuse cyan. If they're crewmates, they'll probably be the first to call a meeting (head-to-head with orange), and if they're the imposter, they probably won't be successful, because as mentioned before, cyan is incredibly suspicious in every game, even if they're just doing a task.

6 Blue

Among Us Blue with How to Play Button

Blue is passionate. If they're the imposter, they'll be slashing throats in every corner, and they're lucky if they don't get caught. And if they're crewmates, they will be on top of every task to the point that nothing gets done. And on top of it all, they'll be oblivious in every meeting, accusing left and right, and their story is never straight even if they're just innocent bystanders. They're probably just as sus as red in every round.

5 Purple

Among Us Purple with Vent Button

People who choose purple are either mothers of 3 or 5-year-old children, there's no in-between. But no matter the age of the player, purples are unstoppable.

No one ever accuses purple, unless they're actually seen killing someone or using a vent. They're masters of manipulation, and they thrive as both parties every time. Having a purple on the imposter team is a must.

4 Pink

Among Us Pink with Use Button

Pink is a child, no matter the age of the player. People just can't take them seriously as anything, and they're usually stuck in the background. Having said that, if a pink gets accused of anything, everyone will agree. It's like that elimination "Of course! It was right before our eyes!" So no matter the whole, pink players have to tread lightly because if they slip up even once, they're out of there.

3 Brown

Among Us Brown with In-Game Text

Brown is usually the first to get thrown out. Just like blue, their stories don't hold up even if they're innocent. People who choose brown better have their stories straight, because one slip, and they'll be ejected even if they were just doing a task as they should. Brown will always be suspicious, just because it's easy to accuse them.

2 Black

Among Us Black with Victory Text

People who choose black are the MVPs. Players never know with black. Their either the best asset to keep around, or incredibly suspicious and has to go.

And because crewmates just can't decide, they'll end up keeping black around, thinking it was the best choice. They're the best detectives and sneakiest killers. And for some reason, everyone believes every word of a black character.

1 White

Among Us White with Imposter Text

White is like a fly on the wall. They're a lot like black, as they too can get away with anything, but for the opposite reason. They're just not suspicious. And if they're the imposter, they're like sly foxes, doing the job perfectly, and aiming the blame on either red or blue or throwing poor cyan out to dry. White is a master manipulator, even better than purple, and can always clear their name.
