Released on itch.io and Steam back in 2018, Among Us is a social deduction game in the vein of classics like Werewolf and Town of Salem. Every round, 4-10 players play as spacemen working to accomplish a variety of tasks such as fixing electrical wiring or cleaning out air filters. However, there are traitors among them who have to kill off crew members and avoid being voted out, resulting in a one-way ticket out the airlock. Recently, a variety of YouTubers and streamers have been playing the game, resulting in a resurgence of popularity that has resulted in Innersloth officially announcing a sequel.

In a blog post on itch.io, the devs talk about their reasons for making a sequel among other topics. Among Us wasn't meant to become as big as it is, so a major priority in the sequel is to make it able to "withstand growth." Development on Among Us 2 has just started, but the dev team already teased at some of the features players can expect. For one thing, all of the maps in Among Us will be brought over to the sequel, but these maps will be able to host around 12-15 players per round, including cross-play. Speaking of players, the team is working on making new roles beyond the classic crewmate vs. imposter dynamic. The dev team has also hinted at "big content updates" that will feature new maps and game modes for players to try. The team signed off with the announcement that they'll be releasing some merch on August 21st.

Among Us 2 has no release date yet, and will likely be released for PC first before porting to mobile. Meanwhile, Among Us is available for free on mobile for Android and iOS. The PC version costs $5 on Steam (which comes with a variety of cosmetic hats) and is name your own price on itch.io.
