A surprise reveal during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase came for one of the industry's most popular games. Among Us became a viral hit during 2020, leading to developer Innersloth to cancel the development of a sequel to instead focus on post-launch content. Among Us players can now take a look at one of the social deduction game's biggest updates yet, as the Xbox showcase trailer showed off just what the game's 15-player lobbies will look like in motion.

The short trailer runs less than one minute, but that's all that's necessary to build hype for Among Us' 15-player lobbies. The trailer starts like any normal Among Us game, with players starting to join the game. Then, when it feels like no more players should be able to join, they just keep pouring in. That's when the title flashes, "15 Player Lobbies," alongside, "There are 3 Imposters among us."

Needless to say, the 15-player lobby update may be delivering more of the same Among Us that players already love, but it'll be experienced in an entirely different way. Among Us will be a much more frantic, crowded game where everyone will have to work harder to succeed. The strategic depth of Among Us is about to get taken to the next level.

Innersloth will deliver the 15-player lobby update for all supported platforms on June 15. Expect to hear more about Among Us' upcoming update in the next few days. Note that Among Us isn't actually available on Xbox consoles yet, though it's available via Game Pass on PC. The trailer does say that Among Us is "coming soon" to Xbox, however, though it doesn't seem like it'll happen prior to the next update.

As for what players can look forward to in the new update outside of just the 15-player lobby, a variety of new content has been teased. A new map was teased this past week as part of the Summer Game Fest, for example. Additionally, new optional roles like the Sheriff and Scientist are in the works. Lots of new colors can also be expected to help accommodate the expanded lobby size. Don't be surprised if Innersloth slips in some other changes, too.

Odds are, this is just the start of Innersloth's plans for Among Us. Innersloth wouldn't have returned to working on Among Us if it didn't believe there was something exciting it could do with the social deduction game.

Among Us is available now on PC, Switch, and mobile devices, with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S support coming in 2021.
