A heightened level of speculation is always expected whenever Marvel Studios announces new projects—but with initial Phase 4 titles like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier opening up so many possibilities for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like the rumor mill has been really working overtime these past few months, and now fans may have been given a preview of newcomers like America Chavez.
Adding to the chaos is a recent leak of the alleged concept art for some of the MCU's highly-anticipated new characters. The leak, which was posted on Reddit, gives details on a collection of images that were reportedly given by Marvel to an unnamed toy manufacturer to use as design references for upcoming merchandise.
Included in the images are Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, who will star in the soon-to-come Disney Plus television series that will follow the bow-wielding heroes. Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, who will appear in the Black Widow solo film, is also shown in the artwork, sporting an all-black ensemble that is fitting for a Russian spy. Perhaps one of the most exciting reveals in the leak is the concept art for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which depicts Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorceror Supreme, as well as Benedict Wong's Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor's Mordo, and Elisabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff.
There is also artwork for new heroes such as America Chavez and the sorceress Clea, who will both allegedly make their MCU debuts in the Doctor Strange sequel. According to reports, the actress to portray Clea has yet not been cast, but some have theorized that Rachel McAdams—who is set to return for the Doctor Strange sequel—could take up that mantle. America Chavez, on the other hand, has been confirmed to be portrayed by Xochitl Gomez.
Lastly, the leak also shows the potential costume design for Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel, as well as what appears to be Aramis Knight in his Red Dagger attire. Marvel Studios' Ms. Marvel, which is being produced for Disney Plus as a television series, will set up Captain Marvel 2, with Vellani set to appear alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers.
Of course, as with any leak, these claims should be regarded with a reasonable degree of suspicion. After all, Marvel has not confirmed any of the images as official, and the source that provided the leak remains to be a mystery. Still, considering all of the discussions going on about the leak at the moment, the images clearly have clearly sparked the fanbase's curiosity and amplified the overall excitement for what Marvel has in the pipeline. Perhaps this was their plan all along!
