Anyone who's been on the lookout for a new graphics card or console this generation has no doubt found it difficult to secure any of it. While Intel believes the chip shortages will continue for a bit longer, there is good news on the pricing front. For anyone who hasn't been keeping an eye on things lately, GPU prices have been falling, which could be down to a reduction in demand, with some AMD and Nvidia hardware coming down significantly.

According to the latest report from the German site 3DCenter, as spotted by Videocardz, those in Europe who have been hoping to get a new AMD graphics card can breathe a sigh of relief. Providing supplies are good, it should now be possible to purchase an RX 6000 card for less than MSRP. A graph shows just how much prices have fallen recently, and data gathered shows that this range of RDNA products averages around 8% under retail values. The biggest drop, it seems, is the RX 6500 XT, which can be as low as 23% under MSRP. By comparison, the RX 6600 can potentially cost 20% above retail price.

There were even some Nvidia GPUs in the data, though they are still averaging more than their respective MSRPs, though only by around 2%, so it's still good news all round. Again, it should be reiterated that this was in Europe, so hopefully this will affect other areas, such as the US. Graphics card prices have been plummeting a lot lately, and it does look as though that now will be a good time to buy a new product from team red or team green. Intel doesn't feature in the data as, quite frankly, the newcomers have barely got off the starting block, having seemingly delayed the launch of its Arc desktop card, which has only just started rolling out in China.

Alongside this, the next generation is just a few months away, potentially. With AMD hoping to launch its RDNA 3 this October at the earliest, the race is on to see which of the two tech giants will reign supreme in this increasingly competitive market, especially with an ongoing deficit.

Of course, team red's biggest rival is not going to make things easy. Nvidia may be launching its RTX 40-series this September. Allegedly, the Ada Lovelace range was delayed by a month, with the initial date being around August time. That still puts team green ahead of AMD, but both companies will be wanting to offer up a host of new gen graphical technology in the coming months.
