AMD has shown off the new Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card coming soon to PCs. The tech company AMD also revealed details for the device like performance, cost, and release date.

Graphics cards are typically a hot commodity due to being a key part of what makes games look great. Much like any other tech, graphics cards are constantly being updated and new models are releasing. These devices can range in tier, with higher end models pushing the boundaries of gaming visuals. With Nvidia having released a new RTX 3060 recently, it looks like AMD wanted to get in on the action too.

The Radeon RX 6700 XT is a mid-range graphics card that will be releasing for $479 on March 18. According to AMD the card will be able to meet 1080p and 1440p gaming at higher refresh rates. Overall, it has 12GB of DDR6 video memory, 96MB Infinity Cache, and 40 compute units. It also comes with dual axial fans that feature a zero RPM mode which should result in quieter gaming during intense titles.

Radeon RX 6700 XT Performance

AMD seems intent on competing with Nvidia, and touts the ability of its new graphics card. The company specifies that games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 have better frame rates on the RX 6700 XT than the Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti. On the back of the card are a DisplayPort 1.4 and some HDMI 2.1 ports. Players can expect that this is likely a sign that the card can have 4K and 120 fps potential.

Graphics cards are getting better all the time, and the Radeon RX 6700 XT is a good compromise. As a mid-tier offering, it still manages to capture the type of gaming visuals that many players will want. From the provided chart, many of the top games out currently will run above the 60 fps benchmark. Plus, games like Cyberpunk 2077 have notorious requirements for running well, so a promise to run frames smoothly from AMD is a positive sign. The device is also coming out this month, so those hoping to snag one will be able to shortly.

Then again, many players could face obstacles when trying to get one of these cards. Much like the next generation consoles, highly desirable graphics cards are suffering shortages. Those hoping to get one of these models may end up looking at ridiculously high scalper prices. And with 4k available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, getting a graphics card around the same value may not be ideal for some gamers. In any case, any players wanting to upgrade their PC graphics can check out the Radeon RX 6700 XT when it launches this March.
