Amidst all the drama surrounding the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom film and Amber Heard's role in the movie, fans are begging for Heard's removal from the sequel, and they think Blake Lively would be perfect in the role of Mera. With the news breaking that Heard allegedly was making false domestic abuse allegations and engaging in the abuse of her ex-husband Johnny Depp, a petition was formed calling for the removal of Heard in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The petition to remove Heard from Aquaman 2 has now accumulated over four million signatures. During the trial, more information about the alleged wrongdoings of both parties surfaced, but fans still want Heard's face to be wiped clean from the Aquaman sequel.RELATED: Amber Heard Could Face Perjury Charges Over Claim About Charity Donation As the petition continues to grow, rumors have begun to circulate that the studio cut most of Heard's screen time, with some even speculating that she would appear in ten minutes or less of the film. On the stand, Heard confirmed that she had to “fight hard” to stay in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, adding that her role in the film had been substantially cut down and all her action sequences had been removed from the initial script. She also accused Warner Bros. of wanting her to be pulled from the movie entirely. DC Films chief Walter Hamada later testified that Heard's role was reduced for creative reasons and due to a lack of chemistry with lead star Jason Momoa.

Aquaman fans have been giving the studio many options of contenders who could step into the role of Mera. One of the suggestions is actress Emilia Clarke, who worked with Momoa in the past on HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. Another name that's been circulating among fans as a top contender is actress Lively. Fans are firmly standing behind the possibility of Lively stepping into the role, so much so that a new petition has formed.

This comes after fans have also called for Warner Bros. to recast Ezra Miller's The Flash following reports regarding Miller's arrest at a karaoke bar in Hawaii earlier this year. It was reported by Hawaii News Now, that The Flash star was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment, and they have recently been arrested again on the island for assault. Following this, fans called for the studio to consider actor Dylan O'Brien to take on the role, or even actor Grant Gustin from CW's The Flash television series. Despite the fans' outcry, the studio has confirmed that Miller will stay in the role of The Flash for now.

Considering Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has already been shot and its release date set for March 2023, the chance of Mera being recast is unlikely, as it would cost Warner Bros. a pretty penny to do reshoots and the company has been trying to watch its spending following its recent merge with Discovery. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, it's fair to say that Mera won’t be recast for Aquaman 2, but the chances of her being played by a new actress down the line may still be possible.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to premiere in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2023.
