Amazon announces that heavy hitters Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, and Star Wars Battlefront were the top selling games this past holiday season.

With the holiday season behind us, the wallets of consumers the world over can now recover. And from the sounds of it, there will be a lot of recovery necessary, as Amazon has announced that this past holiday season was record-breaking for the online retail sales giant. Along with this announcement, Amazon has revealed the three games that sold the most over the holidays.

Topping Amazon's best sellers list for 2015 are Call of Duty: Black Ops 3Fallout 4, and Star Wars Battlefront. This should come as no surprise, as the three games were arguably three of the biggest releases of the fall, and all three appeared on the list of the best selling games of November 2015.

Amazon also revealed a curious statistic regarding a somewhat unexpected top seller. As it turns out, the smartphone-controlled Just Dance 2016 was also a huge seller for the company this year, with Amazon claiming that if one person completed every copy of the game sold, they would be dancing until the year 2081.

While these stats are impressive, Amazon unfortunately didn't single out sales by platform. Considering the PS4's considerable sales lead over its competition, one has to assume that Black Ops 3Fallout 4, and Star Wars all sold the best on that platform, but that's only speculation until Amazon clarifies.

Amazon also opted not to reveal sales data for the amount of consoles sold during the holidays. There were plenty of console Black Friday deals and other holiday shopping bargains for consumers to take advantage of, so it's likely that both the Xbox One and PS4 did well. However, it would be interesting to know exactly which of the two consoles sold the best over the holidays on Amazon, and which bundles were the most successful.

Both Microsoft and Sony pushed their respective home gaming consoles hard using bundles this year, and it would have been interesting to see if this strategy paid off. Sony especially relied on PS4 bundles and third-party games, releasing a Star Wars Battlefront PS4 bundle to make up for their admitted lack of a strong first-party lineup this year. Since the PS4 was the best-selling console of November, it seems as though this strategy paid off, but it still would have been interesting to see Amazon's sales data on the matter.
